Benefits of Beyond Throughout history, mankind has always been curious. In recent times, one area of focus for that ceaseless curiosity is the exploration of space, which is undoubtedly a controversial topic. However, it is beneficial to everyone and continues to be an important endeavor to this day. Man’s dream of exploring beyond the Earth started long ago. Although, it was not until the launching of the first successful satellite, Sputnik I, that it officially began. “History changed on October 4, 1957, when the Soviet Union successfully launched Sputnik I. [...] While the Sputnik launch was a single event, it marked the start of the space age and the U.S.-U.S.S.R space race” (Garber). The Cold War had started in 1945 and that was an influential factor in the onset of the space race.
