My senior project is on a career in Broadcasting but more specifically sports videography. The field of sports videography has been around for many years and has many opportunities for people to explore within it like myself, and room technologically for advancements. It also requires years of schooling and internships. Sports Videography is a crucial part in society today; as sports and television continue to play such a big part in people’s lives, and sports videography is a way for people to view that. Sports videographers do a wide range of things in their job. Sports videographer’s are responsible for capturing the moment of a sporting event. One of them being a 2-4 year education with an Associate 's Degree in Video Production and possibly a Bachelor’s Degree in Television Production or Film. Attending Universities can help to build a reputation as many of them have good production programs. Experiences and internships may be required for such positions. Experience as a Production Assistant may be required. Knowledge of sports is a need for a career in sports videography. Also having good hand-eye coordination and focus is crucial. Sports Videographer’s must have creativity and be able to capture the moment as they best perceive it. A good attitude is needed for a sports videographer as they do not know what job is going to be handed to them, where they may be going, and perhaps may be required to work irregular hours. According to Business Insider. com, in 1939 the first television broadcast in America came to life. It was a college baseball game between the Princeton Tigers and the Columbia Lions and was broadcasted on NBC. That college baseball however was only available to 400 televisions around the country. In 1955 the first colored sports broadcast appeared on TV, the game however was not baseball but tennis. Broadcasting sporting events nationally didn’t happen until 1982 due to broadcasting rights. In 1994 people were able to watch any game, anywhere. Then in 1999 TiVo and DVR came into the television scene allowing people to watch sports whenever they wanted (Nachman).
