Genre and Style of the Film

The genre of our trailer is going to be drama. The trailer is going to be set and filmed at school, and the story itself is going to take place in the school environment.

We wanted to make our film dramatic by showing the process of how the main character changes over the course of the trailer. At the very beginning of the trailer, we are going to show the main character significantly weaker than other people around him. This is going to be shown through the comparison of the main character and another character, who is perceived to be stronger. This “stronger” character is a sports champion, who won many awards. It’s main idea is the development of a stronger personality of the main character through effort and hard work. Therefore, the trailer is mostly going to deal with the theme of strength of personality, which is quite common for the genre of drama.

Issues List: What are some possible issues that we may face as we create our trailer?

Availability of actors. Our film is centered around sports and competition. In order to make our film more realistic, our group has decided to have a real Sports Coach perform the role of the coach in our film. At this point, we have talked to the coach and we have come to an agreement about when we’re going to meet in order to film our scenes. However, it might happen that we will need more than one lesson to film the scenes that require the coach’s participation. If this happens, the coach’s availability might be a problem.

Availability of Settings. A part of our trailer is going to take place in the gym. However, when we have our film class (Period 5) the gym might not be available due to the PE class that takes place there at the same
