The book titled Beyond Bars: Rejoining Society After Prison offers invaluable lessons of how both men and women may successfully depart prison and return to society. The book was written by Jeffrey Ross and Stephen Richards, both of whom are college professors and criminal justice experts. The population of prisons across the United States has increased dramatically in recent decades despite overall crime rates decreasing during the same time period. Approximately seven million American people are in some form of correctional custody. Between the years1980 and 2000, America’s prison population increased by 500 percent. During the same time period, the number of prisons grew by 300 percent (Ross and Richards, xii). Close to 50 percent of people admitted to confinement have previously served time, exemplifying that the criminal justice system “recycles” inmates through the system again and again (Ross and Richards, xi). Unfortunately, many convicts simply do not remember how to or are ill-equipped to return to society once their sentence ends. Ross and Richards, through their valuable lessons within their book, seek to lessen the problems that ex-prisoners may face when released from prison.

Last night I made my first trip ever to, Fleming Stadium, home of the Shadyside Tigers, Before the game I stopped by the big tailgate party being thrown, right beside the stadium. I wanted to first say that this stadium was well lit and in pretty good shape, for this time of the season. The P.A. system was very loud on the home side. The home crowd was very large and loud and the P.A. guy was one of the better ones, I have heard this season.

Sports play a very important role in my life ever since I could walk. My interests in playing sports began at the age of three as my parents signed me up for soccer, flag football, basketball, and lacrosse. First grade started my competitive edge as I began to play for travel teams in various sport tournaments. When I first started the semester, I had absolute no Idea of what major I wanted to do. Now after taking this course I have been able to narrow it down to 2 majors that I am interested in taking. I had no idea that there was even a sports administration major. If the class never brought in the sports administration presenter I would have never known about the major. The snack assortment spread out on the big dining table; while games upon games are lined up ready to play and watch. It is necessary for parental control options to be already in place for the best night ever. Not all games are family oriented; so, the game chosen most have the option for the parent to switch off the blood or change to water, as an example.
