Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Timely Goals (S.M.A.R.T Goals)
Within my Leadership courses, it was presented, the intelligent always plan. One's goals and aspiration are not conducted without one. In the year 2020, I will be attaining my second Diploma from the prestigious University of Central Florida. Beginning this Fall, I will be attending the Education Programs Clinical Mental Health Track, and broadening my knowledge on the psychology behind it all. Aspiring for nothing less than scientific breakthroughs, obtaining this degree will lead me towards a practice of independent licensed mental health counseling. There I can advise young adults with all disabilities alike; purposefully, improving their quality of life.

While volunteering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), I have seen the devastating impact that undiagnosed mental conditions can have on individuals. The capstone project I completed for my MBA degree focused on LDS Hospital’s new Access Center, which caters to individuals with behavioral health needs. This project was especially captivating to me, as I was able to use technical skills, such as Six Sigma methodology, to improve the lives of individuals suffering from mental illness.
The theory of goal setting was developed by Edward Locke and Gary Latham (1990) and states that there is a direct relationship between the setting of specific high goals and task performance. A higher degree of employee performance is obtained when specific goals are set compared to the performance achieved when employees are simply told to do their best (Latham & Locke, 2007). These findings have helped shape leadership styles and improve employee performance and job satisfaction (Posthuma & Al-Riyami, 2012).
The mission of this program is to change the understanding and treatment of mental illnesses through basic clinical research, which paves the way for prevention, recovery, and cure. In 2015, they released its new Strategic Plan for Research, which is how they are being guided by today. In the Strategic Plan for Research, there
While pursuing my studies in Psychology at Brescia University College, I plan to get involved in many ways, by joining the Social Justice Club and Active Minds organization at Main Campus Western, and by running for the First Year Representative for Brescia’s Psychology Association. In addition, this course has inspired me to register for a Leadership course at Brescia. These plans will allow me to continue to be an agent of change in areas that interest me most, and will assist in my growth and development as a leader and advocate for change. And, while Psychology and mental health are extremely important to me, I will not be limited to this topic, as an agent of change, as throughout this course, other social issues, like the equal treatment of the LGBTQ community and barriers to equality for aboriginal individuals have become important to me, as well. I hope to be able to actively partake in activities that will raise awareness and promote change for these and other social

It is no secret that our country is seriously lacking when it comes to managing the mental health issues of its citizens. Not only are mental health services expensive and not covered by many types of insurance, but mental health care providers are not always easy to find. To this end I have developed a career goal that is not something I see coming with a specific job title or one that I can see reaching without the help of others. My career goal is to use my background in both information technology and psychology to benefit those in need and to expand mental health care services into communities that are currently lacking easy access to the services.
Juke joints with Coca- Cola signs faded from the sun and washed by many rains sat back in graveled parking lots acting as ticket booths to the occasional shotgun house or single-wide. They were surrounded by sparse forested areas that rushed through my line of sight as I was driven into my new hometown. I felt disillusioned as I watched the run-down hoods of Greenwood, Mississippi, pass my window. It was at that point that I realized that then, more than any other time in my twelve years of living that I wanted to do something to improve my community, the Mississippi Delta, and myself. As I worked my way diligently through middle and high school, my strength in science revealed itself and my love for the subject grew. My mother encouraged me to apply to the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. That was the best decision I have ever made in my academic life. There, I was not only exposed to cutting edge education in the sciences, but also some of the best humanities professors in the state. Being in an environment with other like minded young people motivated me to ...
On Monday, I went to meet up with a woman named Clara Angel to discuss how she feels about the field of mental health. Ms. Angel is a License Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). She got her Master’s degree at New York University (NYU). Her office is magnificent. The office is on the corner of University Plaza and 11th street, on the fourth floor. When I entered the office I noticed that I was walking to the Washington Square Institute for Psychotherapy and Mental Health (WSI).

When I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Psychology degree in 2004, I remember feeling unsure of what it was I wanted to do. Nine years later I entered my Master’s program in Educational Leadership and I remember feeling that same apprehension. I had been a Guidance Counselor providing college advising to inner city high school students for 8 years. I knew I wanted to focus on Higher Education Administration but was unsure of how I could transition into the field. In the summer of 2015, I was preparing to graduate with my Master’s degree but, before I could, I had one final course: Leadership in Higher Education.

Goals are an important part of life. For me, they provide direction, stability, and motivation. I have always been keen to setting goals in my life, long-term and short-term. There have been times where I simply gave up on setting goals because when they would turn out different than I had expected I became a little discouraged. As I have aged a bit more, I acknowledge and understand that this is part of the goal setting/planning and action process. Lately, I have pushed some more short-term goals aside simply because of time restraints, and tiredness. However, I want to make some changes not only for myself, but also for my family. In this paper I will present two objectives and three tasks associated with meeting those objectives. I will do these objectives and tasks for two weeks. Finally, I will measure the success and the outcome from these objectives and tasks at the end.
