South Africa
Many say that South Africa is the land of ‘Outeniqua’, translated to the land of milk and honey, but is it really? South Africa has a rich history and is one of the most prosperous economies in southern Africa. The post 1994 South Africa government has embraced a neoliberal macro-economic framework, in hopes that it will bring about a stable economic environment for the county. This neoliberal macro-economy goal was to encourage economic growth, future investments and the creation of widespread job opportunities. The South African approach to the economy has led to a strong mix economy system allowing a variety of private freedom. This relation to the economy has combined both government relations and centralised economic planning. The South African economy was long the powerhouse of Africa; nonetheless Nigeria has out grown them and has taken the number one spot in 2014. (Ascani, Crescenzi, & Iammarino, 2012)
