SourceFed on YouTube is a news/pop culture based show, similar to the Daily Show, that has five news stories that are uploaded Monday - Thursday individually through the video sharing platform. SourceFed is an effective form of satire because the hosts entertain and strive to bring change through educating their audience. This is achieved most efficiently through stories such as the 2014 Sochi Olympics, unplanned pregnancy, and China’s handle on press freedoms.
A prime example of the satire found on this YouTube channel is in the video, “Russia Not Ready For Olympics”, in which the two hosts, Lee Newton and Ross Everett, play the part of Russian citizens who subjectively account the details of the Sochi Olympics towards Russia. In this particular video, quotes such as, “Many hotels are so newly renovated that they are still being renovated,” “We have installed new roads, have upgraded hotels, and removed all gays from world stage,” and “Bring a good pair of shoes because most hotels do not have elevators.
