Therefore, drinking and driving is a cycle that will never end. However, we can address this by stopping drunk drivers by making cabs mandatory at any location when needed, sobriety check points, and alcohol education classes. According to the article “United States Drunk Driving Fatalities,” “1.4 million drivers are arrested for drinking under the influence.” (MacGregor and Collins) Many people don’t realize the consequences and danger they’re putting themselves and others in when they get in a vehicle intoxicated or drunk. Teens and young adults are peer pressured to drink; they have no one to call and friends are too careless not to let other friends drive and end up in a car accident because they were intoxicated. They ruin other people’s lives as well as their own, injuring or even killing loved ones because of a regretful decision.
It can lead to violence, accidents, socia... ... middle of paper ... ...all this is true, then the child will have to struggle through some very big emotional pains in his/her life dealing with a parent who is an alcoholic. Drinking causes loved ones to suffer, and nobody wants to deal with a drunk. Due to drinking people are being emotionally scarred, abused, and harming their own bodies. Drunk driving not only puts the drivers life in danger but also puts everybodys lives in danger. Being an alcoholic can really ruin a persons life.
Not many people understand all the horrible things that can occur so they don’t take this seriously. Driving while drunk kills others Drinking and driving can kill themselves and or others, because people do not think straight while under the influence. It influences people to do wrong or stupid things, like drive and that is not safe at all. Drinking while driving increases the likelihood of people going to jail, people killing themselves or others, getting their license suspended, or receiving a DUI. In most cases, people think it is okay to drink and drive so they don’t have designated drivers (Hanson).
While I have never personally been involved in a crash caused by drunk driving, as a fire fighter I have approached the aftermath of many. The worst drunk driving accident I have witnessed was a car that had rolled three times. The guy flew out the front window leaving deep cuts all over his head. Because he was intoxicated, he tried to get up and move around, oblivious to his injuries or pain. He didn’t even realize he had gotten into an accident.
The Consequences of Drunk Driving “A friend who dies, it’s something of you who dies,” Gustave Flaubert. When someone dies from drunk driving this is something you may be feeling. The consequences of drunk driving are far too high to even think of driving while under the influence. Every year thousands die from drunk driving or are caught drunk driving, and face consequences such as fines and a loss of license. But, it’s easy to avoid or prevent drunk driving by ordering a taxi or setting a designated driver.
People can die at the hands of someone else because they decided to drink and drive. There are people who are injured by drunk drivers. Some people are mentally injured by drunk drivers through witnessing people die because the driver made the mistake of driving drunk. However, there is always a way to avoid If there was a designated driver for ever time a group of people went out it would cut back on so many accidents. Many people would not have to drive in fear of there being drunk drivers out on the road. Less people would die from car accidents or lose a limb.
In today's modern society alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse has become one of the most complex, life-threatening issues. Most depressed individuals usually indulge themselves in bars or pubs with their alcohols to escape from their stressful life. It has become increasingly alarming how alcohol does not only attract the adults, but also teenagers these days. "Research has shown that approximately 14 million Americans (7.4%) of the population meet the diagnostic criteria for alcohol abuse or alcoholism" ("Facts about Alcohol"). Alcohol addicts may encounter social impact such as loss of respect from others who may see the problem as self- inflictive and easily avoided.
They also claim that if we carefully drink alcohol we can prevent from serious problems which damage people. However, they ignore some significant points. One of which is the fact that people who drink alcohol adversely set an example to children. If we can think in terms of the long term effect this may lead to bringing up alcoholic people in the future. Alcohol should be banned because alcohol is a really dangerous beverage which has brought a lot of sorrow and tragic stories to a lot of people’s lives and families, through driving, partying and making bad decisions.
When you start taking drugs like GHB and mixing them with alcohol and other street drugs, the effects can be catastrophic. The more you lose your inhibitions, the more of the drug you take until something tragic happens. Obviously, this is why these types of drugs are illegal. But being illegal isn’t enough. Teenagers need to know that these drugs are out there and commit to making good choices before their awareness becomes impaired.
Every minute many people lose their lives in the world. A large amount of those deaths are caused by things that can be completely avoided like driving under the influence. Driving drunk is very dangerous and something that is inevitable to cause bad things and drinking is totally futile. Drunk drivers are devious when they drive and create a lot of pandemonium on the road. How many people will have to get injured or even die before we realize how dangerous drunk driving is?
