Software developers are the brains behind technology. They make the application and give it to programmers who write the code for the application. This includes operating systems, word processors, databases, spreadsheets, and games (¨Information¨). To be a great software developer one needs a good education, teamwork skills, and experience.
Software developers need some important qualities to be successful at this job. A good knowledge of hardware, software, and programming languages (¨National¨). This includes html and more advanced languages such as c++. Since hardware and programming languages are always updating you are always learning with this job whether on your own or going back to school. Excellent communication is another important quality (¨National¨). Excellent communication is needed for helping to solve problems customers have with the application. If there is a bug with the app, getting feedback from the customers and working with them to fix it will let the community know the company supports their products. Besides working with customers, working with co-workers is also important so a deadline can be met on certain parts of the project (¨National¨).
There are some requirements needed to have a better chance at being a Software Engineer. Having a bachelor's degree greatly enhances the chances (¨Information¨). Sometimes a person can get by with less schooling but, four years is usually average. In those four years there are some classes that will benefit the most. Math and science are usually some of the more beneficial classes to take in college. A major in computer science is usually the best bet (¨Information¨). Most people imagine their dream job is to become a famous actor or a job they have seen done many times. Though because of the progression of technology I would be more suited in a field involving computers. My dream job is to become a successful software engineer because I have always been into computer systems, but can I fit this job, is the career life something I can manage and what opportunities should I go after when becoming a software engineer. Each time I notice how a program is used I wonder how can I make it become faster or more efficient. When you are using your cell phone or iPad there is usually an update at every month. This is because apple is improving the speed of your applications. A software engineer is sometimes overlooked, but without software engineer’s applications would either crash or would not improve. Although most people may feel looking at a computer all day and trying to fix it is uninteresting, I find it challenging
Computer programmers have a wide range on what they can do. Computer programmers write the detailed list of instructions the computer will follow in the software (Great Sample Resume). This is also called “coding.” Programmers test their software, or other peoples, to see if it works properly (Career Cruising). Programmers study the tasks that the program will need to complete while being used (Career Cruising). If programmers are working to make a program for a certain group of people, they may work closely with those who are requiring the program (Career Cruising).
