Sociology and Psychology is fairly alike regarding topic it covers, but only differs in different types of studies and what they both essentially does. “Sociology is the scientific study of human social behavior and its origins, development, organizations, and institutions.[1] It is a social science that uses various methods of empirical investigation[2] and critical analysis[3] to develop a body of knowledge about human social actions, social structure and functions” (n.d., 2013, pg.1). Both Sociology and Psychology both consists of studies that are based upon humans such as parenting styles, homosexuality, corporal punishment, etc. Sociology as a whole deals with a lot responsibility and hard tasks. “Sociologists work within small local groups, organizational groups, and widescale or national groups to identify and resolve problems, their comprehensive efforts combine to create a more harmonious society” (Oksana, 2011, pg.1).
The reason for the major I am in is to dig deep within to discover what is really going on in the society. Examining group of people, cultures, organizations, colleges or school, household, and so much more is part of the job. For instance, the Kohlberg’s Moral Dilemmas that talks about the man name Mr. Heinz. It is a sociologist job to talk with individuals such as Mr. Heinz and to come up with a suggestion as to what he was thinking while taking the actions he took and to what have he learned from making those choices that he did. However, it is up to the sociologists to decide whether this is a pre conventional, conventional, or post conventional dilemma.

Sociology is very useful when studying the role of a human and correlates with the study of Psychology. Psychology is basically the study of humans as well, but it goes in depth as to why a person act a particular way and what exactly causes them to make that decision of action. Therefore, when I continue my career in Sociology it will give me a sense of how to deal with my patient’s behavior and environment because I will know what and why they are surrounding by these negative props. I want to work as a social worker, but there is many other positions that psychology can support when in the field of sociology. This is why I enjoyed taking both my Introduction to Psychology and my Introduction to Sociology this semester because all the information corresponded and gave me a better understand of humans and the emotions within.
