1. Introduction

These days’ social networking sites are getting very much popular in business environments where people try to get connected to their colleges for different reasons. SNSs are gaining popularity at the speed of light. The very first social networking website came into market just a decade ago, since then the way we communicate with other people has also changed. Individuals these days are in search of assistance and relationship instead of command and control. (Agarwal,& Mital, 2009) Social Networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Bebo, Orkut (Indian Social Networking Site) are so well-established in this contemporary digital globe that it has blended into our daily routine very easily. SNSs have become the primary way of communicating with other people as this has changed the way we communicate with other people.

Large enterprise such as IBM has started establishing social networking site on their intranet as they believe that it provides new way of interaction between workers. On other hand research shows that 7% of traffic generated from a company was going to Facebook (Grove, 2010). Such statistic proves that social networking websites are gaining more popularity between workers. It is also an increasing concern companies. In one of the article by Willis Wee, he found that employee accessing Twitter and other SNSs during working hours has cost the businesses around £1.40billion each year.

For conducting any research, a research instrument is a cornerstone which in this case is questionnaire for finding out the intention and particular uses of the social networking sites of the people at their workplaces.
