Introduction The term social worker encompasses numerous different functions. They encompass a variety of skills which are linked, with the goal of helping individuals in need (Kirst-Ashman, & Hull, 2015). Discussed in this paper is the interview conducted with Tiernan Seaver, MSW, Program Coordinator at the CASA FAMILIAR, nonprofit community development agency, located in San Ysidro, California. The interview consisted of questions regarding Tiernan’s educational background, what brought her to the field of social work, as well as her professional work preference. However, her role encompasses community development, organizer, negotiator, spokesperson, and initiator. Often time thinking of a practitioner’s work as a series of roles can be helpful (Kirst-Ashman, & Hull, 2015). In early 2016, she will be promoted to the role of program director, with the responsibility of overseeing approximately 30 programs. Those programs range from community development to social services. There are several upcoming activities that Tiernan will be participating in. On November, 19, 2015 Casa Familiar will host a Thanksgiving community dinner at the San Ysidro Civic Center. On December 10, 2015 there will be an Arts and Crafts market in San Ysidro. There is also a Holiday Toy Party on December 19, 2015 at the San Ysidro Civic Center. According to Tiernan the target client group at CASA FAMILIAR is predominately 95% Hispanic/Latino men, women and children. The clients are mostly in need of social services ranging from housing, immigration, section 8, counseling referrals, and food and housing assistance. Although CASA FAMILIAR stresses the importance of diversity, due to the demographic make-up of San Ysidro, California, which is approximately 90% Hispanic/Latino, it is easy to comprehend the high percentage of Latinos/Hispanic clients (San Ysidro, CA. The interview relates to information presented in the course in the context of the Macro level, organizations and communities. The macro level incorporates planning, implementation, evaluation, termination and follow-up (Kirst-Ashman, & Hull, 2015). There can be numerous tasks associated with making changes to large systems that require cohesive efforts of multiple groups (Kirst-Ashman, & Hull, 2013). In Tiernan’s project the Macro level is evident in working with multiple groups, consisting of her co-workers, city council members, and community developers.
