Emerging adulthood is a term that psychologists use to describe a period between the end of adolescence and early of adulthood. Most young college students who fall in this situation usually feel like they can be responsible to what they do, but they are still dependent to others. In fact, emerging adulthood is likely to happen in developing countries where college students receive all the protection and good care from their parents. Consequently, those students become less independent and trouble in making their own decision. They can make up a fancy online profile without any restriction or fact-checking. Social media turns the whole world into a small box where users interact each other without face to face or using true information. Ohannessian(2017) foundthat the gender gap in use of social media was negligible. However, numbers of alcohol consumption and drug abuse in male were increased as the frequent use of social media among students in emerging adulthood (Ohannessian,2017). The reason behind that is because young people interact with many display of alcohol and drug use in social media, so it gradually promotes a favorable expectancy and a permissive norm in their thinking. In addition, false information in social media would influent students’ belief and lead to their wrongful act because free advertisements and propagandas can be found easily in social media in which not all of them are true and positive. As a result, when they come to the real world, they don’t fit in because their virtual world doesn’t reflect all perspective of reality. The real world is much more complicated that need a good consideration.
