That is what makes us such great country. We have our freedom to express who we are, but the gays do not because the older generations do not approve? There are so many things that are good about gay marriage. When gay marriage is allowed it is giving everyone their right to be married. This is important because we should all be able to get married when we see fit in our lives, no matter who we want our spouse to be.
Not only does some humans have a problem with individuals being gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender; people also has an issue with same sex marriage. Love and marriage shouldn 't have a gender to it, because love just happens. People shouldn 't sacrifice their happiness in marrying someone who doesn 't make them happy just to be accepted and not be judged. Even through, president Obama legalize same sex marriage on June 26, 2015 in all 50 state, there still individuals who are opposing this law. If president Obama believe that everyone was created equal and that he had made the union a little more perfect, why are other people trying to fight and screw up the almost perfect America.
Like in the cultures of the Romans, Greeks, pretty much all the cultures that grow and prospered around the Mediterrane... ... middle of paper ... ...uple is made of two gay people this does not mean they do not have the capacity to love and provide for a child. So why not give them chance to do so and provide homes for a child who is in need of one. This is another big issue that goes along gay marriage. Society has come a long way in learning to accept homosexuality but; it still has a long way to go. Even though not every person in society will grow to accept homosexuality, the more that do the, better off same sex couples will be.
Gay marriage legalization has reached a national stage in the past decade (Kellard). It’s understandable that some people are uncomfortable with something they are not familiar with, but this is no reason to deny a group of people the rights they deserve as citizens of the United States. Denying homosexuals the right to marry is doing more harm than the people opposing it can imagine and marriage has so many different connotations. It is unfair to put a limitation on a concept that has so many meanings for so many different people. Most of the opposition surrounding gay marriage stems from the religious beliefs of the people opposing it.
In the United States, only nine out of fifty states allow gay marriage. The low rates of gay marriage causes a concern that society may never acknowledge homosexuality. Instead of only nine states, gay marriage should be legalized for the whole country, in fact, the whole world should acknowledge and legalize gay marriage. Legalizing gay marriage is vital, because not only will humans receive the basic right to marry, but it will also manifest creations of stable families, and alleviate the economy. In our current society, being homosexual is considered as a sin to many people, and these people also believe that gays should not deserve the basic right to marry simply because it is deemed unnatural.
Preventing same sex couples from marrying is not only denying them their civil rights, it is also discriminating against their innocent family members. Gay marriage is just another hurdle to be overcome by Americans in their pursuit of freedom and equality. Gays and lesbians are not the first Americans to be denied their civil rights. Woman and interracial couples were also denied equal rights when it came to marriage for many years. In the beginning, women had little say in whom or when they married.
However, due to the different sexual orientations of the two partners, problems often occur, causing emotional harm to"closet gays," their partners, and their children (Harbinger 683). If gay marriage were legal, homosexuality would be legitimate. Thus, the number of "closet gays" would decrease, as acceptance of their sexual orientation increases. In short, society would be spared a lot of trouble--the breakup of a family or dissatisfaction with one's life, especially of the homosexual partner, as she or he tries to comply with society's standards. Same-sex marriage is just in that it provides gay couples with the same rights as heterosexual couples.
Second, states are beginning to realize that gay marriage is not the worst thing in the world and are slowly legalizing it. Third, gay marriage is played into the political views because of the many laws that are made to prevent it. Then there ways that gay married couples are treated differently. Lastly, many believe that children should have a man and a woman as their parents but gay couples do just as fine as heterosexual families do. To make sure there is a partial understanding at to what is at hand, here is a brief summary of the history of the battle for gay marriage.
However, single-sex marriages should become legal so that couples could enjoy the advantages of marriage. Legalizing single-sex marriage would create more family units and create more tolerance from society, allowing single-sex couples a legal way of expressing their love to each other. One of the major complaints of heterosexuals against homosexuals is that homosexuals are involved in many sexual relationships instead of a monogamous relationship. If the country would allow same-sex marriages, the people involved would feel as if they could seek out life-long companions. The couple's relationship would have a goal that is accepted by society.
Everyone one deserves the chance to be loved, no matter what gender he/she is. Try being in someone else's shoes. It is not as easy as you think! There are millions of people that wish they had the opportunity you do, marry the person they love, but theres laws that don't allow same sex couples to marry.
