Speech- At this age patient should be able to form three to four word sentences, and words should be 90% intelligible by a stranger (Murphy & Berry, 2013). Before referring the patient for therapy, provider needs to use a diagnostic test tools to help further determine the degree of the delay. The Denver Articulations Screening Exam could be used to screen the patient for articulation problems, along with the Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals-Preschool which screens for both receptive and expressive language problems. Furthermore, the custodial caregivers need to be encouraged to stimulate the child. This can be done by reading to the child daily, displaying appropriate language, using clear simple sentences and language, and providing the child opportunities to interact with other children. Likewise, television viewing needs to be limited, and caregivers need to continually provide encouragement. Teach that with age most language errors disappear. Her phonetic inventory is well developed. She has no troubles creating the age-appropriate speech sounds. The child is just above normal because she can produce more adult-like sounds than her peers. She has control over her articulators and she knows how to manipulate her oral cavity to produce the correct sounds.
When a problem is noticed by parents or teachers a child gets diagnosed based on his/her difficulties. Sometimes a diagnosis may not be possible, or necessary. Many children with milder SLCN (speech, language and communication needs) can be supported well in their school or nursery setting, or respond well to general support strategies, and they don’t need specific help.
If a child has Dyslexia, work with that child to find out what different things they could do to read better. See if spacing sentences out will help. Maybe they would just need a blank sheet of paper to block out the other words, Use flash cards and repetition. Also, routines are extremely

One of the most exciting milestones for a parent to witness is the first words a child speaks. However children that are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have difficulty speaking. Often times, speech is delayed which makes communication with the child difficult. The first thing that a child learns to do is cry. This is how they alert their parents or caregivers of what they need (Baby Center, 2014). At about six months of age, children will begin to use their tongues, palates, and newly emerging teeth to create sounds. This is there way of teaching themselves to talk. Unlike children who are developing normally, ASD children begin to repeat certain sounds over and over. Once the child is old enough to be able to speak and hold conversations, ASD is easily noticeable. The communication of a child with ASD is habitually rigid and repetitive (CDC, 2013). This can include things that they hear on a normal basis, like commercials or songs.
In an era when the resources for health promotion are limited and the expectations as to what can be achieved are high, sustainability has become a familiar catch-cry (Swerissen & Crisp. 2014.) Health and sustainability are parallel challenges (Cunningham et al. 2010) as the economic, social and environmental characteristics of a sustainable society are the same as those of a healthy society (Griffiths 2006.). The precise definition of sustainability is still subject to debate. It has no single or universally accepted definition. It is not easily captured in a concise definition and means different things to different people or concepts (Auditor General of Victoria 2004). In this case sustainability will be the development aiming to maintain or sustain conditions in order to provide improved long-term economic health and a stable social and cultural quality system to preserve and protect the environment (Gremm et al. 2008). A crucial focus to sustainability includes preserving the environment so that the needs of future generations can also be met indefinitely in the future. Public health programs constitute an important method of improving health and program sustainability (Pluye et al 2004) as partnerships between health organisations and local authority planning departments concerning spacial planning are important to ensure the design of healthy sustainable communities (Griffiths 2006.).
Had a speech delay until the age of 6. Children should babble by 12 months and speak words by 16 months.
Otitis media, commonly known as an ear infection, is an infection located in the middle ear, commonly diagnosed in children. In 2006, approximately nine million children (age zero to seventeen) were reported to have otitis media, while medical costing to treat otitis media peaked at $2.8 billion dollars (Soni, 2008). Costing and statistics of otitis media will continue at the increasing rate due to the commonality of the infection. As a result of increasing cases of otitis media, an understanding of the disease’s classifications, causes, symptoms, diagnostic tests, and treatments will inform one of the diseases presences.
