Way back when in Coweta County, Georgia on November 2nd, 1860, Jefferson Randolph aka “Soapy Smith” was born. Soapy was a con artist and was definitely skilled at it. A con artist is someone that scams people out of their money. His mother was Emily Dawson Edmondson and Soapy’s father was Jefferson Randolph the 1st. They came from a wealthy family. Soapy was an only child. No brothers no sisters, just big big crimes. Soapy Smith is the character that never gets caught. Soapy is a smart and sophisticated man with some serious crime on his hands. The customers went crazy like a pack of wild dogs fighting over a piece of meat and Soapy was making a fortune. Then when business was done, he left and went somewhere else to rob people. And while Soapy got paid, you got played. Later, soapy went to Skagway Alaska during the klondike gold rush. And stole gold dust that back then was $2,600. While he was in Skagway, a gunfight occurred with Frank H. Reid at 9:15 pm on Friday July 8th 1898 because they both were fighting over who will control the town of Skagway.
