“So help me God,” is a quote started by George Washington during his inauguration, it’s still used nowadays. George Washington was our first president from Virginia, he was also a great dancer as well as a leader. George Washington acted as a leader when the Whiskey Rebellion happened, he marched there with 10,000 soldiers and made the farmers scurry away. John Adams, however, had a very aggressive, hot-headed temper with a lack of self-confidence. Washington was able to protect the rights of people, while Adams failed to do so.

Document 4 (The XYZ Affair) states, “After the Americans chose to avoid war with the British by creating the Jay Treaty, the French felt betrayed. The French refused to then meet with the American Ambassador unless the Americans paid the French a bribe. The Americans refused to pay the bribe and returned home insulted.” This document is showing that instead of staying neutral, John Adams made a treaty with Britain, which made France start attacking American Ships.
