This well-structured book uses real life examples to talk about author’s opinion about if people should follow their passion and the reasons behind his opinion. The author does not support the idea that people should follow their passions without evaluating their future career direction. There are fifteen chapters in this book, and all chapters connect closely and support each other logically. Each chapter has at least one real life example to support the main topic. After reading this book, readers might take a step back and rethink about their career moves before making decisions. The author holds an interesting position on if people should follow their passion. According to the author, following your passion blindly is not a wise choice for those who want to be successful. He supports that mastering a skill, building enough career capital and following the law of financial viability are three important characters a successful business person should have. This book has a smoothly organization and flow. Eleven chapters are divided by four main rules in this book, and a summary locates at the end of each main rule. The first rule is Don’t Follow Your Passion. The author uses a monk named Thomas and Steven Jobs as examples to explain why blindly following your passion might lead you to nowhere. The author uses many real life examples in this book, which could make readers to feel the content is more connected to themselves, for example, the successful series entrepreneur Derek Sivers’s life story is a perfect lesson for people who want to start their own business but are not sure where to start. This method could be very useful for teachers or employers when they try to explain or convince their students or employees about some new concepts or policies.
