In October 2012, Snapchat was struggling to attract users to its unique app. Evan Spiegel, the founder of Snapchat, created a whole new way to connect the world through social media. By taking a risk, Spiegel developed a completely new idea that did not aim to fit the needs of users, but instead create an entirely new need. Snapchat started off as a simple app consisting of a few features allowing a user to send a real time picture or video that would last ten seconds. After the ten seconds has finished, the picture or video would then disappear forever. Over the years Snapchat has consistently began adding new features to make the app more enjoyable, interactive, and accessible to the entire world. After changing its name along with many other aspects, Snapchat went published for several months before taking off into the social media industry. Once it started attracting many users, Snapchat did not fail to please. With many feature like stories, Discover, filters, and live event stories, we can only expect great things in the future. Since the up roar about Snapchat is still relatively recent compared to its competition, Spiegel has a lot of opportunity to make the app a game changer in the world of social media. He is already on the right track making Snapchat the only app of its kind and one of the most popular social media apps ever. Snapchat launched more success after developing a celebrity user base. This undoubtedly led to an increase in users who are interested in following their favorite celebrities lives through real time pictures and videos.
