SLOW LEARNERS
“Learning is a continuous process from cradle to grave” Every student has his own style of learning. Some student’s way of learning and ability will be entirely different compared to other students. If we watch them closely, we can find some abnormality in them due to various reasons. The slow learners look like normal students only but they will have some abnormality compared to normal students. They are normal students but they take more time to learn .Such students won’t show much interest in studies .If they are forced to learn, they will be evasive and all the efforts of the teacher will be in vain. It won’t be positive. They need special care by experienced and trained teachers. Teaching such students will be a very challenging task. We can give them hope by giving extra care. This article encounters the reasons of slow learning and suggests some of the tips to help the slow learners.
What is learning?
Learning is a process which continues from cradle to grave without any age barrier.
Who are slow learners?
The students who lack interest in learning and are normal from the birth and take long time to learn and understand are called slow learners. They are not mentally retarded children. All they need is extra care from teachers.

5) Role play:- The teachers should develop confidence among the slow learners by giving them role play so that the students can play the roles which are given by the teachers. This will help them to get rid of their fear and they can gain more confidence.
Curative measures:-
a. Teachers should maintain a friendly relationship with their parents to help the slow learners.
b. Teaching the students how to use dictionary.
c. Teaching them new vocabulary and meanings.
d. Encourage the students to read story books and novels.
e. Teach them simple conversations according the situation.
f. Must motivate them to think critically.
g. Experienced teachers should be recruited.

This should not be too surprising, our children are studying history books that are from a decade ago. This creates difficult obstacles for our children to keep up on current politics and other global events. Also the over crowding of classrooms makes it extremely difficult for your child to get that personalized learning which may determine his or her ability to learn at all. Every child learns at a different rate and possibly in different ways, this makes it virtually impossible for teachers to tap into every child’s full learning potential. If your child needs that extra, personalized attention, but is not "defined" as handicapped their specific learning needs will most likely be overlooked and that may be the beginning of your child’s inability to learn.
During the 1920's, separate schools were established for the blind, deaf, and more severely retarded (Reddy, p5). When children do not seem to learn in school, some edifiers and parents may cerebrate the child is just imbecilic or does not have a desire to learn. What they fail to realize is there child has a learning disability. A learning disability can make a person feel like it takes over their lives. But with the right assistance and hard work it will not affect their future success.
A group of 29 students were selected to conduct the study. Students were chosen according to their willingness to participate in study to share their experiences and thoughts of having teachers of like background as they. Of out of six class periods only one class period was chosen. The students selected were interviewed and were given a survey to complete. In this class there are high, middle, and low student performers. This is beneficial for the study being conducted collecting the data from the different intelligence levels of the students obtaining an extensive variety of the perspectives of every student. Eleven-year-old Anna is outgoing and bright. She attempts to work hard, but her progress in school has always been slow. She is a year behind her peers, particularly in her English class and her teachers have slowly begun to reduce their expectations of her. Her parents are worried because her confidence for learning is decreasing, and there is less motivation for her to do homework and class assignments. A psychologist found that her intelligence is in the gifted range, but she has difficulty in making out written symbols. It is easy to make the assumption that Anna seems merely as a child who is slow intellectually, but when taking a closer look, it shows that she is just as intelligent but happens to suffer from a learning disorder. Students with learning disorders have brain impairments that make it difficult for them to acquire skills and knowledge accurately and fast enough to keep pace with average academic progress (Encarta, 2003, p.1). The purpose of this research paper is to investigate the causes of learning disorders, various types of disabilities, their causes, and finally how in today’s modern era assistive technology is able to reduce the frustration of students and increase their level of performance.
In conclusion, children with Learning Disabilities are being helped in many ways, whether it is from a special school, special programs that help, medications, or simply from home by parents or a special tutor. As we learned, the three methods of helping these children, remediating, compensating, and just waiting, does a great amount of help when it comes to ways of coping with learning disabilities. The medications can also be very useful. The main thing, though, for the help for these children would probably be the support of the parents, teachers, and loved ones. Without that, the child might just lose all, if any, self-esteem and consider him/herself as “slow”, “stupid”, “retarded”, when in fact he/she might just need a little help in being taught and not actually be one of those given “names”. If more people would decide to help, there might be a chance that learning disabilities would not be considered as something bad, and, perhaps, become history. You never know.
All teachers dream of the classroom filled with fifteen tranquil, enthusiastic students, all with their note books out and pencils prompt for note taking. This is the classroom where everyone works together, at the same pace, and without any interruptions or distractions. This is the ideal classroom setting. The only problem with this picture is that it does not exist. Students are all different. Kids all learn different ways, and at varying paces. Both Physical and Learning Disabilities can hinder a child’s learning speed and hold them back from the rest of the class. It can be very difficult to identify a child with a learning disability because students can often be misunderstood and labeled as unmotivated and lazy. These students are often ignored and not given enough individual attention, and therefore they experience difficulty and frustration all throughout their education. Teaching students with learning disabilities takes a knowledgeable and understanding teacher and often requires adaptation of the curriculum. The education of these students often needs so much “constant attention and fine tuning if they are to succeed,” (Mather, 3) that they hold the rest of the class back. It is these cases that students should seek an adaptive classroom program and individual attention to work on their problematic areas. The bottom line is these students cannot be allowed to fall through the cracks of our educational system. They need positive reinforcement and individual attention so that they are confident in class and productive when they do their work.
Dyslexia is a learning disability effecting thousands of students in schools across the world. As with many learning disabilities, dyslexia manifests itself differently in every person. Due to this inconsistency, many people feel it should not be qualified as a learning disability, but because so many students continue to have to overcome their dyslexia it continues to be diagnosed. Thankfully when teachers are aware of their students’ having dyslexia they are able to put supports in to aid their students’ learning. Many strategies exist to aid dyslexic people in carrying out their everyday tasks.
Due to the development of ICT, adaptive learning, which takes into account individual learners’ needs, is changing. Learners’ learning styles are one of the most significant characteristics. They can be categorized according to a number of criteria which are based on cognitive and emotional components of personality. Their combination leads to the countless individual variants of real learning methods which – to a certain degree – can be influenced by the current e-learning resources. When the e-learning resources can react to the learners’ input characteristics or their learning results, they become adaptive e-learning systems (AES) or intelligent AES.
People all learn at a different pace, some may be faster than others at learning something. It just depends on how the specific person learns best, or how much they already know on a specific topic. Other than the obvious fact that people learn differently, you as a teacher also have to take into consideration those that can not understand because of a mental disability that they may have. It is really common for someone of special needs to be put into a classroom and you have to be sure to not leave them behind, and make sure that they understand what you are teaching. It may be a slower process, but it is necessary. On the opposite side of that, there are the people who get all that you throw at them really easily. Those people may get bored, so you may have to give them something harder to do so that they are challenged and interested. To be fair and sure that people all learn properly, you should split them into three groups for each lesson that you teach. The group that completely understands what they need to, the group that is average and kind of gets it, that may need a little more help, and the group that definitely needs help with the topic. Doing this, you can ensure that each group will eventually be on the same level of understanding. You could also do some sort of different activity for each group, getting harder as you go up in difficulty level. This may take longer than you
There are slow learners as well as a mixture of fast learners in every classroom. These should be taken into consider and activities should be planned accordingly so that slow learners will not left behind and fast learners will not be bored. There are students with learning difficulties which will affect the teaching learning process. These should be taken into consider and teachers need to avoid things happening which as an effect in the teaching learning process. Behavior such as disruptive and destructive shows similar characteristics. These behaviors need to be discussed with the parents and necessary actions need to be taken to create a good atmosphere in the class. Also teachers will be able to identify different cognitive levels and learning styles. Some students learn through audio, some need to see visually while some of them learn by writing. So as teachers we need to have all these learning styles in a lesson to fulfill each individual. Planning should be done accurately which helps in the teaching learning process. Teachers play a great role in handling different children in the classroom. To build up an effective teaching process, these facts need to be taken into consideration. Teachers could think of different ways that they can implement in the classroom in the process of teaching and learning. Group method is one of the main teaching
