In today's society there are adequate career fields, with people who have the ability to fill them, but it is quite a requirement for most individuals to have a higher level of education in order to get a job. Unemployment, seems to be a major issue in relation to this situation of a more higher education, and well-rounded experience in order for an individual to maintain, or acquire a job. Situations like this and other job market crisis became a factor that leads to a "skills gap", which can create a situation where those who need employees can't hire enough individuals for the job because there's not enough applicants, or individuals with skills that is needed for the jobs that are avaliable.
Many people who've only had a high school education, or "GED", can't get a good job, nor a good career. Except they still seem to be making more money than some individuals who are in a situation where they wanted to pursue a career that they really found interest in. By the time college graduates finish college, and have a career some have trouble finding a job in the job market in which their career interest is, and some have success. The reason for that is the "skills gap" in which some student's are not being educated well, or pursuing the areas in which most job opportunties exist. In public schools due to the result of these issues are requiring students to take more scinece, technology, (computer), and math, (STEM), classes. Many teachers and school officials, and other levels of higher education feel like these different areas will help students, and future students prepare for the future.

... place. In the field of technology pay is very fair, equal, and working in the tecnology field is like your not really working becuase it's a very active job. My sister then decided that with both career fields, she can benefit by both due to her experience and work ethics.
Today's job-market has progress in advancing technology each, and everyday. Those in the workforce now, and later on in the future need to take advantage of new skills , take classes that deal with technology, and getting full work experience will be familiar with their jobs, as well as in the future. Continuing education for the new and old digital age will eliminate the "skills gap", and decrease unemployment rates. As, long as people began to take advantge of getting more technological experience will help America grow into a well-developed, progressed nation with a stable job-market
Since the inception of civilization, people have dedicated themselves to certain practices to obtain needed supplies. With the advancement of society, these practices have specialized into roles that society needed and have become jobs and careers. With these jobs and careers, people have struggled to find a difference between the two, if there is one. However, the two are very different. There are a multitude of differences between a job and a career, but the most distinct differences being the necessary skill, and dedication needed.
Vocational and technical schools offer these people a second chance at finding the career that they will love. According to fifty-year-old Jeff Martinelli, “For a guy like me, with no college, it’s become pretty bleak out there” (qtd. by Egan 106). Martinelli spent most of his life operating heavy machinery at Kaiser Aluminum until it shut down a few years ago. He started working there right out of high school and didn’t pursue any further education. Now, he has no certification and no degree. It is nearly impossible to find a good job without either a degree or certification. Vocational schools offer people like Martinelli a second chance. He can take just one year and do a program at a technical school to get a certificate. With that certificate, he will be able to provide for his family again. At a technical school, they don’t just have young people straight out of high school. According to Fox Business, interest in vocational schools spans high school students, 4-year school graduates, and people who want to improve their skills or switch careers. That means that everyone has a chance to get the job that they are passionate about, no matter what their previous
A high school education is no longer sufficient to succeed in America’s increasingly complex economy. However, because of the high price point of a college education, far too many Americans are unable to afford education beyond high school. As shown in the graph below, the higher level of education received greatly increases the chances for employment and also dramatically increases the average salary potential of an individual.
...te our youngest children, like Georgia or Oklahoma, studies show students grow up more likely to read and do math at grade level, graduate high school, hold a job, form more stable families of their own” (Obama). He goes on to encourage high schools to include programs that ensure high school graduates receive a “high school diploma and an associate’s degree in computers or engineering” (Obama). This would prepare the graduate for a good job straight out of high school, which is tempting to those who cannot afford a higher education.
If more people went to college, and less went the vocational route, jobs will take a momentous hit. Today, companies will not even touch an application that does not include a Bachelor’s Degree; even if the Bachelor’s Degree has nothing to do with the job being applied for. Attention is not given to whether the hopeful applicant qualifies for the job; all that matters is that the applicant has a Bachelor’s degree. Murray best sums up the American job market when he says, “Employers do not value what the student learned, just that the student has a degree” (Murray). However, if less people obtain a Bachelor’s Degree, employers will be forced to base applicants on their skills, and abilities. Furthermore, important vocational jobs that lie vacant will be filled. Good electricians, carpenters, and construction workers will always be in
This disruption gives those who have lost their jobs to improve themselves by furthering their education. The psychological effects on displaced workers only last until they find a replacement job. Today, the national unemployment rate is at five percent according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (Databases). Economic experts believe that technological advances are expanding at a faster rate than humans can learn to manage and adapt to the new skills necessary to survive in the evolving labor
Figuring out if they should find jobs right out of high school or go to college first. Nevertheless, most people are sure that they want to have a better job. Not only one that will pay more, but one they are pleased with, and one that makes him/her happy. Today, practically 60 percent of all jobs in the United States require their employers to have a higher education. Jobs for individuals who only have a high school diploma are decreasing. A large majority of high school graduates work in some type of service industry. These individuals also work in low paying jobs with no position to advance. On the other hand, college graduates tend to have more skills that qualify them for a much larger range of employment opportunities. This makes it easier for them to move up in positions. According to Catherine Rampell, “there are more employed college graduates today than employed high school graduates and high school dropouts put together” (678). Thus, as the economy progresses over the years to come, college graduates will be better placed to find jobs that will offer a larger amount of pay. Therefore, earning a college degree will greatly enhance your marketability as a professional.
“Education is the key to the future: You've heard it a million times, and it's not wrong. Educated people have higher wages and lower unemployment rates, and better-educated countries grow faster and innovate more than other countries. But going to college is not enough. You also have to study the right subjects” (Alex Tabarrok). Education is something that is extremely vital in life during these times that we live in. Higher paying jobs come with years and years of school and studying. A vast number of individuals in America and across the country have not continued their education post-high school. Many don’t feel the need to go out and get a higher level of education due to its extremely high costs or their desire to begin work straight
...nd again resulting in creation of bigger markets and pulling large competitors and creating new job opportunities, but the problem is with undefined factors like outsourcing, lack of skill development in respect with technology advancement. Technology advancement may be causing huge impact on employment but it is also making human living better. Technology as became part and parcel of our life so we can’t think of life without technology, but to make sure that the same does not harm our livelihood we should keep in track and sharpen and hone our skills with advancement of technology. (Brynjolfsson & McAfee, 2011)
It is possible to be successful with just a high school diploma, but it is much easier to be successful with a college degree in some field of study. With just a high school diploma, it is possible to have a successful life with a well paying job such as being a manager, police officer, military personnel, and even an employee of the garbage industry. College, however, offers many other jobs that are well paying or even give a sense of accomplishment or happiness. College leads to occupations such as being a CEO, scientist, teacher, artist, or another kind of STEM career. My road to success involves college, specifically a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences and business. With that degree, I have options opened for me that weren’t there before. Some of these options include, but not limited to, being a business owner, being a trader, working as a computer programmer, or game designer. Plenty of high profile occupations that offer access to an incredible life of success as long as hard work is also involved.
Education has been taken very seriously by today’s society. Parents are encouraged to get their children an education at a very young age. It’s pretty difficult to have a great future without an education. Colleges and work programs look for people who are well-educated and have great set of skills that may be applied to their programs. For example, parents have a choice of sending their child to public, private schools, or homeschooling for their child. Parents may choose to homeschool their child, but sending their child to public or private school is a better choice for their future.
The majority of people in today’s society, strongly believe that our generation is obligated to take on college education right after high school. It is common for a person who does not choose the college path to be considered “too dumb or too lazy” (Murray 253). Most students with their first choice being college after high school believe that it’s beneficial and will be very valuable for their future career choice but not all students have that same mindset. Many students are finding themselves into large amounts of debts, and go to college just for the hell of it, not realizing that they are not meant for brutal long classes that require serious thinking and learning skills. I do believe that education is generally very important, but not everyone is suitable for the amount of knowledge and skills college education
According to the authors of “Should Everyone Go to College?”. “23- to 25-year-olds with bachelor’s degrees make $12,000 more than high school graduates, but by age 50, the gap has grown to $46,500”. Now most Americans believe that people should try to make as much money as they can during their lifetimes. It is what Americans call the “American Dream.” Why not increase one’s wealth of knowledge and dollars? Education is so important in today's society. Many of the jobs for which people apply need some education after high school. Those are the jobs that are paying more money. Since these jobs are paying more, these employers want educated, well-spoken, and honest employees. Attending college can teach people so many skills and open so many doors for young people. There are so many new people connections and opportunities that someone will have attending a college that he might not get to experience if that person just gets a
... in technology, economic growth and demographics can lead to the change in the job market. As a result of this I decided to pursue my Master’s degree to keep up with the changes in the job market.
Firstly, technology has made life easier for human kind in terms of education and work. Ever part of people’s daily lives is linked to technology in one way or the other. It just makes life easier and things quicker. Technology advances make people see how processes can be made actively and efficiently (Lynda Moultry Belcher, n.d.). For instance, by technological improvements of computers, nowadays, education has greatly enhanced. Students are able to learn and take exams by sitting and home and simply using their laptops or computers. This could highly help disabled people, children who live very far away from any school and who are living temporarily abroad. Other than homeschooling, nowadays technology ...
