As college students, I believe that sleep is pivotal in our daily lives because we have various time pressures. We have to attend class, study, work, maintain a social life, participate in organizations, and do homework. Personally, I always have difficulty of attaining a sufficient amount of sleep. Sleep plays a vital role throughout our lives. It is regularly said that the more/less rest you get, the more worn out you are. I agree and disagree with this statement. Sleep is supposed to protect, support growth, help us recuperate, help with our memory, and help feed our creative thinking. Everyone functions differently. The experience was difficult. I started the challenge over countless amounts of times, due to failures. I believe I failed due to a lack of planning. A significant amount of times, I often think I will instantly fall asleep when I lie in my bed, however it does not always happen that way. One disturbance was my phone, which would ring multiple times throughout the night and morning. I refused to place my phone on do not disturb. Five consecutive days of 7-9 hours of sleep seemed impossible. Changing my schedule around was tiring. I needed to strategize and make sense of how I could get more work done, obtain more rest, and wake up in time for class in the morning. I began to stay up late on Mondays and Wednesdays. My strategy included staying up late on these nights because I concentrate better on my work at night. I also do not have class until the afternoon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I was able to get a significant amount of my work done and receive 7-9 hours of sleep on those days. However for Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday I had to get in bed earlier than usual.
