Although slavery has always existed, there are more modern versions of it in our society today and it is believed to be because of the wants and needs of many upper class people. The earliest forms of slavery can be found in the early Roman Empire. This slavery was usually associated with farming. Times have since changed, and the definition of slavery has become more complicated. The current definition of slavery has nothing to do with race, gender, or religion like it has in the past. Modern day slavery can have an affect on anyone from anywhere, but it usually stems from poverty. When people are lured into slavery, they are usually told they will have a better life. Most of the people in slavery do not know that is where they are going to end up, but they do think they may receive higher salary or a better education. When these people arrive at their destination, they are typically beaten and forced to do things that they do not want to do.

Sex Trafficking is a form of slavery that many people do not picture when they think about what slavery includes. Sex trafficking is not limited to just women or any certain age range just like other forms of slavery.
