Santo Domingo is the capital of Dominican Republic. David Ortiz was the oldest of four children. He was known for being the fun one entertaining one of his family and of his friends. He was a calm and laid back guy for the most part you could always joke with him just because the guy he was. He a big effect in his family and had a big influence on his family. He helped raise his family and had an effect on sibling and how they were brought up. His two parents names were Enrique and Angela. Angela was his mother and Enrique was his dad. He didn’t play tee ball like most kids, he went straight to coach pitch. Between the ages of 4-12 Craig played with the Civic league team in his hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. He played in the Babe Ruth league from the age of 12-16. Growing up through baseball Craig’s positions were 3rd base and outfield, not pitcher. David Ortiz should be given the title National Treasure because of his profound charity work and contributions to baseball. He has saved the lives of hundreds of children by giving them medical care they desperately need, and has revolutionized the role of the designated hitter in baseball.
Ortiz learned from Martinez what a pitchers mind set is and Ortiz learned off of that and learned how to read a pitcher and use it as an advantage while he was at the plate. They became sorta like brothers and had a special connection. Ortiz started hitting better and getting playing time. He couldn’t seem to find that starting lineup though. Martinez told the manager he wanted Ortiz batting for him while he was pitching. “Pedro put his ass on the line in order to give me a chance. He believed in me. How many guys would have done that?” said Ortiz. “I’m a World Series champion because of Pedro. He is the most loyal guy I’ve ever met in baseball.
