Taking it back to the 1920’s in The Great Gatsby and The Chicago Musical where everything was so different throughout the era. In the 1920’s women used their appearance to gain fame, money, and power. Women in Gatsby and in Chicago where nothing less persuade themselves to be these sexy women who can get anything they want. In the Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald women would always be with men who were so very wealthy but they had to be very popular to get with these sort of men. Remarkably in Chicago written by Rob Marshall it was slightly similar but different as well. In the roaring 1920’s money was everywhere in sight. But the men were the ones with the money, so that was where the women were chasing after. In The Great Gatsby and Chicago women would be drooling over the money. All men where the apple to the woman's eyes. The Great Gatsby was portrayed towards the end as old money new money, which summed up to be that old money was when its been in the family and new money is just being brought to them. Women in Gastby just wanted to be with the men for money purposes. Daisy was married to Tom which in fact he was a millionaire but he was cheating on her. That didn’t stop her from being with him , it just made her go cheat on him with Gatsby whom she loved before. But Gatsby lied about his identity of being rich and Daisy didn’t enjoy that so much so she ran back to Tom. But in The Chicago Musical women didn’t sweat so much about the men. All they really cared was making the money themselves but the only way they could do that was by being in the spotlight.
