The two plays are written by third person point of view. The play is told by someone else as what is happening. In these two plays tragedy seem to end up happening no matter what. It all seemed to be led to a tragic ending. In Oedipus the King, Oedipus seemed to run away from his problems he had left the village for a while. For some reason Oedipus the king decided that he wanted to come back and find the truth about himself. Tiresias was the one that told the truth to Oedipus. Oedipus felt so much hate towards his mother Jocasta because she had not been with him all his life. If it wasn’t’ that she wasn’t with him Oedipus would not have fallen in love with his own mother. They were both from different time periods but the setting of both plays was in a castle. Therefore, as the plays were written in different time periods the rules of being a king might have been a bit different. The differences between Hamlet and Oedipus the king is that Oedipus the king is trying to figure out the truth about his origins to achieve a prophecy. The whole point of the Oedipus King play is that Oedipus needed to save his kingdom, he needed to figure out who was the one that murders the king before him. While asking others Oedipus ended up finding out about himself and his origins. In Hamlet, the point is for Hamlet, which he is the prince of Denmark, he has to revenge his father’s death. Oedipus can’t love her as he did before when knowing he had a romance with his own mother. Oedipus ended up achieving his goal to kill the king. Killing the king was his goal the whole time so he can be the king himself. Oedipus and Hamlet had a goal and it was to kill the former King for their own reasons. Oedipus and Hamlet were deceived by their parents and they felt hurt. Hamlet and Oedipus seemed to just think about revenge but at the end, they felt as they were thinking more about their actions. Hamlet was born with having the blood of gods the people would look up to him because he had the blood of gods. Hamlet and Oedipus both come from regal and royal families. As known is from families with more power, it seems that the reason why people would know about them. When things would go wrong the whole village would talk about them. The people in the town would look up to Oedipus family and Hamlet family because they both had a position of power. During a long time, Hamlet was always wondering why his father was dead, throughout the whole time he always thought that his uncle was the one that killed his father. Hamlet is in love with Ophelia, but her brother, Laertes, and father, Polonius, warn her that Hamlet can never really love her. Ophelia, following her father’s wishes, is unwittingly enlisted to spy on Hamlet, which leaves him feeling betrayed. Hamlet rejects Ophelia, accidently stabs and kills Polonius, and then hides the body. Ophelia becomes so distraught over her father’s death, that she ultimately drowns herself. Hamlet is devastated when he learns of Ophelia’s death. The play culminates with a sword fight between Hamlet and Laertes. Hamlet’s mother dies from inadvertently drinking poisoned wine that was intended to kill Hamlet. Laertes and Hamlet are both stabbed with a poison-tipped sword, but before dying, Laertes confesses that Claudius was the mastermind behind everything.
