Signature Assignment – Critical Thinking Learning Outcome As a leader who is promoting transformational change, it is important to understand the ten standards that are involved in the process. This includes understanding the knowledge, skills, and disposition that are needed for the standards. The leader should be able to apply the standards to the proposed change, and the proposed change is incorporating a critical thinking learning outcome in every course at a community college. It is a diverse community college that produces associate of arts degree and graduates students from workforce development programs, and the college has a stellar reputation with their external environment. These areas rely on one another because some divisions provide prerequisites for other divisions, departments, and programs. Even non-academic departments of the college are intertwined with the academic areas. The non-academic departments provide information and assistance to students. For example, student advising and retention assist students in making career choices and help students to be successful in their courses. The maintenance department contributes to the success of the students. By maintaining the classrooms, it provides a favorable learning environment for the students and faculty. Workforce development provides training and support to the faculty who educate the students. The leader has to have the knowledge to explain the purpose of the change (Duffy, 2010). Developing critical thinking skills is an important skill for students to obtain in order to be successful in society. By developing and improving the critical thinking skills of the students, the college’s students will be employees that employers want to hire and students that universities want to accept in their university. By engaging the entire college in the change, it will allow the students to continue to improve their skills and have the resources and the support in order to succeed, and the faculty will also have the support in order to successfully implement the change. The vision will be having students who have the ability to critically think, who are sought after in the workforce or by the universities, and who are successful in society, and by keeping this vision in the forefront, it will promote the change because people will remember the end result that is being achieved. The skill that will be needed is the ability of the leader to give a detail explanation of the processes that are needed to achieve support for the change (Duffy, 2010).
