Co-education is a type of education in which boys and girls study in separate classes. In many regions single gender education is the norm due to cultural beliefs or religions. But in the United States this practice has not been common and practical in public schools. However, in private schools, this type of education has been continually in practice. On the other hand, the opposite type of single gender education is: co-education. Co-education is the most type of schooling and it consists that both genders are being taught in the same classroom. It is common in many regions because people think that single sex education could lead students to some psycho-social problems. Unfortunately, the number of schools that are following the single sex education began to decrease. However, it has been argued that single sex schools are a better choice. First, girls and boys should taught separately because their brains are different in the way they get information. Second, it help students to avoid nervous and distraction from the opposite gender.

Most kids who are white won't make it to any major sport anyways. School should be number one priority, nothing not even sports should get in the way of that. If an athlete can't find a way to do both then they shouldn't play. And besides some athletes don't even want to do their sport they are it being pushed by their parents. This is why it can't be replaced by things like basketball, football, and soccer.
I believe schools are a reflection of their communities. Our schools are no longer segregated due the US Supreme court decision handed down in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas. However, a schools makeup is similar to the communities they serve. A majority white school belongs in a majority white community. A diverse community such in large cities like New York will have diverse student body in their schools. Schools in the United States have been desegregated for over a half-century or have they. A film called “Little Rock Central- 50 Years Later” says differently. Little Rock Central is the famous high school where the Little Rock Nine students went to school. The school was forced by the federal government to desegregate. This film now captures this same high school fifty years later and finds a new type of segregation. The new type of segregation is now about social economic class and academic class.
It seems that single-sex education perpetuates gender stereotypes and promotes gender bias among students (Taylor). Gender-separate education requires schools and teachers to create gender-oriented courses, facilities, and learning environment. As a result, sing-sex schools exacerbate sexist attitudes and “feelings of superiority toward women” (Guarisco). It is fair to argue that the best way to achieve gender equality is to promote rather than eliminate interaction among girls and boys. However, girls in the sex-mixed class receive less attention from teachers than boys, which may lead to gender bias. More precisely, boys always have disciplinary issues, such as interruption; teachers have to pay more attention to boys’ behaviors in order to proceed the lecture more smoothly. Girls may feel less important and supportive in male-dominated classes; boys may think that males are smarter and far superior than females. Single-sex schools can address both girls’ and boys’ issues of gender stereotypes directly and accordingly. Male students may be freer to engage in some activities they have not considered before in mixed schools. For example, boys feel pressure to follow some non-macho interests when girls stay around them; however, the all-boys schools eliminate their pressure toward gender stereotyping to pursue music, dance, and drawing. Single-sex schools would help boys explore and develop themselves. Also, girls in sex-separate schools show more confidence and power (Guarisco). They could receive full attention from teachers and express their opinions in science classes without worrying about the boys’ banter. They may realize that they are as important as boys. Hence, both girls and boys can be free from gender stereotypes and benefit from a same-sex learning
There are many benefits of having co-education schools, including both genders to be together in the one school so that they can work together, get to know how the opposite gender works and how to interact with the opposite gender. When both genders are at the same school they are able to cooperate with each other and are able to create friendships with the opposite gender. For instance if a boy went to an all-boys schools when he was younger, by the time he has finished school he might not have had that much time or had many occasions where he would have to talk or do things with girls. He might become nervous being around a girl and not know how to interact with her. This is why it is important to be at a co-education school, so that you have these experiences when you are young and learn how to talk and associate with the opposite gender, “allowing and preparing him or her for the future” (Single-sex education: the pros and cons, 2014) when they will have to work and associate with both genders.
This concer causes the theory that there would be more focus in single gender schools because with the same gender, students can focus more in class in comparison to worrying about romantic relationships. While this may sound like a logical argument, one should keep in mind that it is beneficial for students to develop their social skills which should not limited to interaction with one single gender. According to Lise Eliote, an associate professor of neuroscience at the Chicago Medical School, “While children of both sexes play together as toddlers, by the end of kindergarten, they spend only 9 percent of their playtime with children of the other sex…‘Separation is a fact of human childhood and is equally common among young monkeys and apes”’ (Yates). It is important to teach students to interact with a diverse group of people in order to adjust them for the real world, such as, college and work forces. Co-ed schools include a broad diversity of people which accustom students to interact not only with people who are similar to them, but also work together with people who are different as well. Even though single sex schools allows girls or boys to feel like a family, this style of education will not benefit students’ social factors towards the opposite gender. Students are expected to become well educated, self-thinking, and creative citizens. When teachers are expected to teach to a state guided curriculum students are limited to the standards and content of knowledge. Students are all given the same multiple choice test, on the same day, at the same time. Students are not given a chance to show their depth of knowledge.
Should school be year round? Well, I say yes because our young people will get done with High School faster. And if school was year round, students will not have a chance to get in a lot of trouble and they will not be able to join a gang or have time to hang on a block because they will not have a long summer break. Somebody needs to bring this problem to the school board to see if they will make the change to save many students’ lives by keeping them off the streets and keeping them in school all year long. If the children were in school longer, they will most likely turn out better, but it’s up to the people of communities to push kids through school. I believe parents need to stand up for their kids’ rights to help them have a better future by helping to make school last all year.
It's the first day of school, and a fifteen-year-old girl walks in the front doors of her new all-girl school. She immediately feels uncomfortable and misses her guy friends from her old school. As she pushes through the year, she learns how to work well with the other females and becomes accustomed to the single-sex environment. Several studies have shown that co-ed classes are a more successful option. Therefore, boys and girls should not be in single-sex classes because co-ed classes help raise students grades, prepares students for the future, and help avoid discrimination between sexes.
Many significant questions regarding higher education are in relation to its cost, raising fears that higher education has become unaffordable. Education fee for universities and colleges has continuously grown to become one of the largest expense for most students and parents over the years, especially with the never-ending dramatic tuition fee increases resulting from public funding cuts for education by the federal and state governments. Selingo (para 3) reported that higher education cost definitely has a direct impact on access, thus, the frequent increases in cost are logically of great concern to many, including parents, students, and education policymakers. In other words, this has disadvantaged the poor families, resulting in unequal education opportunities for Americans and putting attainment of higher education in danger of becoming a hereditary privilege rather than a right for all people (Selingo para 6).

This lack of knowledge may be why the real truth about single-sex education being more efficient than co-ed education has not been discovered. Some say single-sex education may be the key for a brighter generation. It shows to improve test score dramatically. The number of public schools experimenting with single sex classes is now reported to be more than 350. (Silva 130) Some research also shows that single-sex classes have a more welcoming atmosphere. Single-sex education improves grades while coed educations keep an average pace.
Nowadays, universities are open place for all people. More and more educational chances have been created for those who want to acquire knowledge from colleges and universities. While registering for a college course seems to be no longer complicated, there still remains an obstacle that has been triggered so much controversy in academic environment: mandatory attendance policy. This policy, which is imposed by some schools or some professors, requires that college student must attend class regularly enough or their exam papers will be extracted some attendance points (that usually count for about 15 or 20 percent of the total grade evaluation). In my opinion, this policy is useless and burdensome to many people involved. University students should be free in choosing which classes to attend.
