Should teachers be paid more than athletes?

Education has been around for as long as anyone can remember. Back in Ancient Greece, teachers were paid as much as religious leaders. Religious leaders were one of the most important people in Ancient Greece (“Do You Think”). When you look at a teachers salary now you'll see that the value of a teachers pay isn't as much as it used to be. Athletes earn millions for playing a sport . Teachers have more impact on society, put more hours into their work, and sometimes have to put up with disrespect of other students and still earn a lot less than an athlete earns (“The Average Career”). …show more content…

Teachers help students know who they want to be and help students learn more to achieve the life career. There are doctors to make sure we're healthy. There are architects that construct, model, and build buildings. Accountants prepare and examine financial records. These doctors, architects, or accountants couldn't be who they are if they didn't get the education they needed. Teachers educate the youth of society who then become the leaders of the next generation of people and become good examples.

Teachers put more hours into their work than athletes (“Do You Think”). Sometimes they have to stay after school and work more hours to work with other students. Maybe they don’t live in the same town where they teach, so they have to drive from where they live to school. They take the time to plan out a lesson.
