I think school district need to do a better job at training school leaders get the proper training and use teacher evaluations to benefit both the teachers and students. Teacher evaluations are very important. Most of the time, they have a negative feeling attached to them. Some teachers view evaluations as a way of them getting written up for what they are not doing and not as a way of growing and improving to help them teach their students. This also depends on how the principals frame and do teacher evaluations.
I feel that the student teacher relationship is an important relationship. If the student respects the teacher they will receive the best education possible. If the communication is lost, some students may stray from the classroom activities and loose the sense of the nature of a good student. If the teacher is a veteran teacher then the students are more likely to come to them regarding any problem. It may be a problem with their studies, a problem with another teacher, or even a domestic problem.
On the other hand, there are people who are slow to learn and the only way to acquire high marks will be through cheating. Surprisingly, a few of these students will say they do not know plagiarism is cheating. This will require educators to devise models of curbing this illegal practice. Sure, teachers so have to teach new lessons and correct tests, but teaching is so much more than that. Mrs. Lauer taught me that relationships are key; relationships with co-workers, administrations, and most importantly, students. If teachers have a solid relationship foundation with their students, the students’ learning experience will be very much enjoyed.
