Is it time for teachers to be graded?
Every student has to have that teacher they absolutely hate. The one who “can’t
teach” or should’ve retired years ago. For these reasons, students should be able to
grade their teachers on how well or poor they are doing. If a student is judged by their
teacher then the teacher should also be judged by the student. Students would grade
them by their performance of teaching and how they could improve teaching. Students
should have the right to grade their teachers because the teachers would benefit and
the students have the right to have a voice in class.

Having feedback would benefit the teachers because
they know what they need to work on to be better. In the article by Gloria Kopp, she
says “For the students it means that they can call out any behaviour from their teachers
that they believe is unfair.” By reading this, it shows how the students could help the
teacher out right then and there to make sure they do not disappoint the students in the
same way again. Most teachers would find students grading them beneficial because it
improves themselves as teachers and role models.
To go along with teachers benefiting from this, students should have the right to
have a voice in the classroom along with the teachers. If the students have the opinion
that the teacher is always behind or mean towards their classmates, this should be
reported to the principal or office. As students, we should have the kind of freedom of

students is that they are stuck with their teacher even after assessing them. If there

Teachers should be a positive influence on their student’s lives. They should not only teach them the basic subjects, but also try to make them become better people by being involved with them. In conclusion, I believe that the grade system is important to the success of the students so can know where they stand in a course as far as grades are concern, and they are able to motivate themselves to light their grades up higher than before as well as the Instructors can see where students need help and they can play an important role in a students career as far as them knowing what areas they need assisting in so they might succeed.
Colleges in America grade students academically for successful careers. For years students grades were calculate by an alphabetic/numeric grade scale. Today colleges are questioning whether grades should be determined by continuing to use a grade scale or switch to a pass/fail scale. Although, there were numerous of factors both positive and negative about a pass/fail system to take into consideration before making a decision. I feel that colleges in America should continue to use a grade scale to convey to students that grades have consequences, open doors to opportunity, and alleviates perturbation.
It makes it seem as if the students have no say in the way they should be taught, which is nearly always the case, when in reality it should almost be the opposite. While yes, teachers should be respected by their students, they should not have total control over how the students learn. For instance, some students need visual effects to learn something new, while others just need it explained to them once. But, in our school systems, students are being forced to learn the way the teacher feels like teaching, even if that form of teaching does not work for that individual. This results in either all students conforming to that form of learning or falling desperately behind.
Students should accept their own responsibilities and be held accountable for their own failures. If a student believes that the professor has made an error, then bring it to the professors' attention and ask why. If the answer then is not justified, take the next step up for a second opinion. Even then the students would start swarming over the idea of receiving a better grade, even though they did not deserve it.
Grading System Reform Teachers have always used grades to measure the amount a student has learned. This practice is becoming ineffective. Many students have a wide range of grades, which shows that grades may not show what a student really knows. Therefore, the standard grading system should be replaced. Some reasons why grades should be replaced are bad grades can hinder a child’s performance, grades define who a student is in the classroom, and grades are not an effective way to see if students have learned the material.

As a student you are evaluated everyday, but have you ever desired to be the one doing the grading? This is a thought provoking idea. Teachers grade students on almost everything these days; including participation and behavior. So wouldn’t it be nice to return the favor? Although it may sound like a great idea, it could also be a very bad one. If students were able to grade their teachers it could provide proper and thorough evaluation; help teachers to improve on what they may be lacking, and help parents understand what is going on in the classroom; but at the same time it could prove to be harmful to the student and a good teacher’s career if not implemented correctly. This is why it’s important to recognize the possible positive impacts, the negative impacts, and the current programs that are in place, and their impacts.
All in all, teachers need to be viewed as professionals and not as simply pay babysitters because most do care about the students. Teachers tolerate the low wages, long hours and repetitive disrespect because they desired to place attention on student success. Teachers should not enter that career for the money, but for the devotion they will place on the students. Luckily there are ways to make teachers more valuable in society. Teachers should be given the right equipment to teach the subject that corresponds to them, the two-year skill evaluation should be more precise and by surprise, so no one knows. Also, students should be allowed to evaluate the teachers to provide feedback. Also, teachers should be aware of the surrounding cultures. In conclusion, teachers should motivate students to reach levels they themselves never thought they could attain.

Test as a grading system in universities should be continued because, although the opposing view brings to light many valid points, discontinuing the current grading system would cause more problem than it would solve.
