Should competitive sports be allowed in schools?
Do you think sports should be allowed at schools? I say we should have sports at schools because they keep people busy and also keep grades up. Sports are a big part of everyone’s life and people would hate to see them banned from school. You could ask anyone how they feel towards sports, and they will tell you that sports are a way to express yourself and a great thing to watch. I am an athlete and hearing this honestly made me sad and mad at the same time, sports are my life, well just basketball but I love to watch all sports and play them. I think sports should be allowed at schools. I honestly think sports should not be banned in schools, reason being people rely heavily on them, some can even keep people out of trouble. I strongly agree with Kevin Kniffin and his article about athletes gaining lifetime benefits. His article really hits every spot about student-athletes, sports offer life-long lessons that will forever stick with you. Being a Basketball player seeing this really doesn’t make you feel

“Honestly in order to be an athlete you have to be a student first, the reason it’s called a student-athlete. In order to play sports you have to have good grades, passing grades at that, my basketball coach wants us to have C average grades so our overall team GPA will be a 3.5. Some coaches will expect more from you in school so you can manage both school and sports at the same time. Yes school is important and you need an education for your future but teenagers can manage both of them, sports honestly helps motivate you to do better in school, rather than just messing around and not caring about your grades. Us teens don’t just think it’s okay to just not care about school, student-athletes probably care more about school then just regular students, our grades got to be

Show More"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" (Nelson Mandella). School is what is developing our future generation, so why should it be put aside by sports? Most kids who are white won't make it to any major sport anyways. School should be number one priority, nothing not even sports should get in the way of that. If an athlete can't find a way to do both then they shouldn't play. And besides some athletes don't even want to do their sport they are it being pushed by their parents. This is why it can't be replaced by things like basketball, football, and soccer.
After reading " The Case Against High School Sports" by Amanda Ripley started to make me think. There were many strong points about how the priorities of the sports are beginning to be more important to students than their education. Another great point was that the financing and budgeting is unfairly distributed throughout school districts and is spent more on athletics and clubs and not enough on classes. And I Believe that schools should put certain restrictions on the spending and promoting or in school sports and clubs because of the major drop in national and world comparisons.
The average family spends $100-$500 a month on sports. People have been doing sports for ever. Some people would be very angry if schools decided to get rid of them. Sports are dangerous though. They are causing parents to pressure their kids, students are becoming sleep deprived, and they are dangerous even though they can be healthy in some ways. Youth sports are harmful to students because they can be parents are pressuring their kids, they are dangerous, and many students are becoming sleep deprived.
Sports are a crucial part of an individual 's character. Counter arguments made against having sports at schools are getting more and more public. The arguments make people, think again about having students play sports. Sports are useful because they give players skills they can use on and off the field: strength, leadership, and confidence.
My first reason is schools should not get rid of sports because private and club sports are too expensive for most families. According to the scholastic news magazine, “Should Schools Get Rid of Sports” it states, “If we cut back school sports, some kids will find themselves shut out of sports completely. Yes, club sports-that is, private leagues outside of school-would be an option for some, but fees, equipment, and travel
For decades, students have been in school sports; however, they are experiencing a drop in their grades as well. After school activities can cost districts’ a great deal of money and they interfere with students’ time to study. Therefore, school sports shouldn’t be allowed, to save districts’ thousands of dollars a year, help students score better academically, and America will not lag behind other countries in academics.
...an affect how kids do in school with the sports interfering with homework and studying time. Some teenaers focus more on sports than school in some cases while hoping for a sports scholarship. This can hurt their future. With so much focus on practicing with sports, school gets less attention than it needs.
For the reasons above, I believe that there should be High School Sports. I believe there should be High School Sports because, it will improve kids academics, also it will keep the kids out of trouble, and finally the coaches will be good instructor and they will make friends from meeting the new athletes. There needs to be sports in every high school. I believe if we did this the G.P.A would raise for every student in the U.S if not already the
For sometime, schools have been debating if sport programs should go, or stay. Having athletics as an option can be a major distraction and could prevent students from learning to the best of their abilities. Therefore, school sports should be eliminated to save districts money, allow students more free time, and help them focus on academics.
Football brings tremendous joy around the world but is it right for our high schools? Football brings a sense of unity in our schools but is it worth the effects it causes. Football should not be allowed in our high schools for many reasons: football is dangerous and could leave players with lasting health issues, it’s costly, and it takes away the real purpose of school.

First of all high school sports are not beneficial because it puts too much stress on the kids because they want to make their parents happy and want to keep their grades up or if they don’t they could get cut from the team . The pressure from the parents is sometimes too much. According to KCRA.com this statement is important because it highlights that they have to worry about not getting dropped from the team because they have to make sure grades are staying up and then they have to worry about their practice and being a valuable player on the team. According to helpguide.org this could lead to, a lot of stress and that could be bad for the student because they might get health
I don’t think that contact sports should be banned from school. One reason is it helps kids have better relationships with other kids
All for all sports are slightly dangerous because of injuries but sports have way more benefits than reasons to be not allowed, also sports should not be kicked out of schools because of injuries and injuries help the person become a better person which benefits any other reason why it shouldn't be
Are high school sports beneficial or not for students? I personally believe if a student is in a high school sport they’re forced to prioritize between school and their sport, and at a young age I believe the student would decide to use his time to improve in his sport instead of school. Which in the long run would affect his academics, unless they decide to stay up late and work on their homework to keep up with both school and their sport. But, even like that in time the lack of sleep would catch up to them, and cause them to do even worse in both academics, and sports. High school sports are like the lotto in my opinion, many play but only a few get rewarded for their work. Therefore, high school sports cause more negativity than positivity.
