The proposed research aims is presenting a demand side management algorithm with considering different power system disturbances in the smart grids. The power system disturbances in electrical power system could have different definitions. Voltage interruption, voltage sag, voltage swell, voltage surge and voltage distortion are power system disturbances that effect on the power system quality and cause power mismatch. In addition, the climate changes affect on the renewable energy values that cause unstable output power generation. In these states, the power consumption loads are in critical condition. To present a comprehensive demand side response, different strategies based on the smart grid standards could be present. First, the power loads at the disturbing time could supply by the storage devices. In this state, the loads based on the maximum necessity of the consumer are prioritized. Second, improving the demand side management strategy based on the heuristic algorithms in smart grids. The novelty of the research is programmed a demand side in the smart grids in presence of renewable energy sources such as Photovoltaic and Wind Turbine at the power system probable disturbance time. According to the previous literatures, the demand side management by considering different probable disturbances in daily power load supplying

As the global population increases exponentially, having passed six billion in 1999, the world population is expected to be 8.9 billion by the year 2050. The worlds energy consumption will increase by an estimated 54 percent by 2025. Energy demand in the industrialized world is projected to grow 1.2 percent per year. Energy is a critical component of sustained economic growth and improved standards of living. One of the major requirements for sustaining human progress is an adequate source of energy. As the world’s technological enhancements and standards of living improve, so too does their appetite for electricity.
A electric grid works as a power distribution system and carries electric powers through different power lines. Since grid cannot store any power anyplace within the system. We got several customers consuming megawatts of power at any moment. At that very same moment, we have got dozens of power plants manufacturing precisely the
The emergence of the Microgrids came after realizing that the architecture of the electricity grid existing nowadays (Figure 1) is getting obsolete, since it is based on the idea of a top-down system, which is predicated on unidirectional energy flows. [ASMUS09]
The power flow problem, or load flow problem, is the problem of determining the operating characteristics of a power system in steady-state [19, 36]. A power system usually has plenty of pathways, the power flow analysis technique is expected to compute the power flows over all the pathways and the voltage magnitude and angle at each bus with the help of a certain number of non-linear mathematical equations[10].
Renewable energy is derived from natural resources such as wind, rain, sunlight, waves, and much more. Over the years, engineers have found various efficient ways to use and harness the renewable energy. One of the main advantages of this type of energy is the fact that it can be used for a long period of time without it being dispatched. Also, this type of energy is cleaner and much more beneficial to the environment since it results in a very little amount of greenhouse gas emission. Renewable energy is also cheaper and more affordable compared to any other sources of generated energy. Due to these advantages of the renewable energy, engineers have decided to find more efficient ways of using renewable energy. Over the past couple of decades, engineers have been successful at finding more efficient ways to harness and manipulate the renewable
For the prevantion of the electricity blackout we need to build smart power grid. A modernized electrical grid that uses analog or digital information and communications technology to gather and act on information, such as information about the behaviours of suppliers and consumers is known as a smart grid. This is used to improve the efficiency, reliability, economics, and sustainability of the production and distribution of electricity in an automated fashion[12]. The important aspects of smart grid is to electronic power conditioning and control of the production and distribution of
As the increase in the consumption of energy gradually increases per year, the government needs to take measures in opting to renewable energy sources, preferably solar energy because of its decreasing price, versatility, and its abundant main source of energy.
Load flow programs are divided into two types - static (off-line) and dynamic (real time). Most load flow studies for system analysis are based on static network models. Real time load flows that incorporate data inputs from the actual networks are typically used by utilities in Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Such systems are used primarily as operating tools for optimisation of generation, var control, dispatch, losses and tie-line control. Since load flow problem pertains to balanced, steady state operation of power systems, a single phase, positive sequence...
Background: The increasing require of electricity, fast exhaustion of fossil fuels, diminution of CO2 emissions, in conjunction with the incapability and ineffectiveness of present electricity grid are motivating chief changes in electricity production, circulation and consumption guides around the globe. In recent times, smart electricity grid configurations comprised with interlinked small or medium dimension generators, energy storage elements as well as power electronic technologies have been germinated to find the key limitations of the conventional grid structure. Microgrids are major ingredients of these promising grid configurations. Even though microgrids are received as feasible solutions to power stability and quality topics in ac power systems, the ambiguity in the capacity of microgrids are to deal with serious changeable load and fault situation is the most important pertain in the function of these novel grid configurations.
Based on current projections the electricity demand from data centers is greater than that of Brazil, France, Germany and Canada put together.
Chapter -2 What is off-grid and why? Definition. In general understanding off-grid power systems are those which provides electric power when and where nationalize power is not available or unavailable. The source of power may differ like solar, wind, biogas hydro-electric, diesel generators or combination of two or more mentioned above.
The number of Electrical and electronic devices running on electricity are increasing at a rapid rate. At the same time the amount of electricity utilized by these devices is also increasing at high rate due to increased complexity in applications which are to be executed, thus overall electric utilization is increasing. Further wastage and over utilization became a concern making power efficiency of a device even more essential. Thus amount of power needed to run an application or execute a command becomes one of the main constraint of the device's efficiency. This is the area which is to be focused because of growing operational costs on servers. In this report we will discuss in brief about various techniques used for power management and our topic of interest along with their merits and demerits. We recommend some of the solutions for existing problems.
Energy is the basic necessity of daily life. Nowadays, dependence on fossil fuels for energy needs becoming lower in numerous countries due to the potential of renewable energy to supply sustainable energy to the huge populations in many developing countries who are short of clean and continues energy. Generally, renewable energy can be defined as energy that is derived from natural resources which are constantly replenished and theoretically inexhaustible. Fossil fuels on the other hand can be described as energy that cannot be renewed and will eventually diminish. Thus, in many developing countries renewable energy is the alternative energy to replace non-renewable energy or commonly known as fossil fuels. In addition, according to Sorensen (2004), there is a greater demand for renewable energy sources nowadays due to the uncertainty of fuel price rise in living expenses. Commonly, there are many types of renewable energy available in our world such as wind power, biomass energy, solar energy, hydroelectric power and geothermal energy. However, the main three example of renewable energy are hydroelectric power, solar and biomass energy (Refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1).
