Should Restaurants Be Able to Sell Genetically Modified Chicken Under the Name "Chicken"
Chickens that have been changed using engineering techniques that are genetic are called genetically modified chickens. It would be morally wrong to sell the modified chicken in the name of the local chicken. The genetically modified foods in America go up to sixty-three percent. They are too common in the United States of America. Most restaurants sell chicken that are modified without the knowledge of their customers. It would be of great importance for people eating these chickens to know exactly what they are eating. These chickens are not good to the health of a human because they form things that do not exist in nature. Genes are more healthy and strong when formed by nature. There are serious health risks that are associated with modified chicken like infertility, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, protein formation, immune deregulation band changes in the gastrointestinal system (Freeman).
Chicken is a major section of the economy of agriculture in United States. That is why the genetically modified chickens are consumed by millions of people including children. Chickens that are genetically modified are raised in filthy cages throughout their lives and pass through many mistreatments. Eating these foods increases the likely hood of developing a disease, which is on the raise for not only people but animals as well. What's worse is it can even lead to organ failure in some cases.

Genetically engineered foods are different from other foods. Genetic engineering allows, for the first time, foreign genes, bacterial and viral vectors, viral promoters and antibiotic marker systems to be engineered into food. Genetically Modified Organisms, also known as GMOs, are one of the most important issues today. Think about all the food you have eaten this past year that contained GMOs. Think about the ice cream that you last ate; some could argue it has a double dose of GMOs; not only does it contain sugar, which is probably genetically modified, but much of the forage that the dairy cows eat that produced the milk for the ice cream is also genetically modified. A genetically modified organism is a new version of a plant or animal that is created by altering genes using biotechnology. According to recent studies, GMOs are perfectly healthy to consume. GMOs are just as safe as normal bred plants.
Mostly everything you eat contains ingredients whose genes have been modified. Although there are many practical and economic benefits of genetically engineered food, there even more harmful effects. GMOs are dangerous to the health of those consuming them, as well as to the environment, therefore they should be more carefully regulated in our country.

Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are organisms that have been genetically spliced to achieve a certain trait. As the demand for a larger food supply is increasing due to population growth, the benefits that GMO foods provide are being hailed as the only solution to the food crisis. However, many people are making inadequately informed decisions, and are pushing them to the back shelf. The peaceful farm of decades ago, with green grass, a red barn, and frolicking chickens, has been completely erased. In its place, another form of food production has taken root: the factory farm/assembly line. Though this system utilizes machines to produce food on a mass scale, it pays a heavy toll on the health of the animals as well as the workers in this industry. On these “farms” chickens are raised in dark, crowded, chicken houses and are injected with growth hormones/antibiotics as soon as they hatch. They grow so big that their bones cannot hold up the extra-weight and end up breaking. These crowded conditions also result in a wide spread of diseases such as Salmonella, which have adverse effects on the workers, who become resistant to antibiotics after being exposed to so much disease. The most common technique used today is called recombinant DNA technology; this technology combines different molecules from different plant species to create a plant with a new set of genes, a hybrid plant. Another recombinant DNA technology being used is recombinant bovine somatotropin (rBST) an artificial growth hormone; this hormone is being fed or injected into cows to improve milk production. It is not a secret that GMF-ed foods have spread out rapidly to the whole world. GMFs have raised concerns over their own beneficial in that they are resistant to diseases, produces greater yields, and it improves the nutrition of foods making the people unaware about their effects. Every time we go to any grocery stores or supermarkets, we would not know whether the vegetables, fruits or even meats being sold are genetically modified. To make this situation worse, most consumers do not pay much attention to what they are eating, when they are actually consuming modified foods.
