What is power? Power can be classified as many things. For instance, being able to manipulate people with your speaking ability is a type of power. In this world, there are very few that are born with these powers. Power is a necessary component in any society, otherwise, all pandemonium would break loose; leaders must be established. But, when taken to an extreme, power is not good, and pandemonium will break loose. Although some may believe that individuals should use power as a mean to get what they want, they should use it humbly for the greater good because it can help change others’ lives, God will give you rewards for the good deeds, and if it’s not used right then it can harm others. For instance, a police officer has a lot of power. He has gun power to control crime. But he can decide to use his power to help the needy or use it as a scapegoat to get rich. In other words, police officers can use their power to keep the society safe, which they should do or be a corrupted officer and make money. There are numerous reasons why the police should use their power to help others. Such as, before a person a cop, he would have to take an oath to obey the law and help protect the people with their power. In a time like 2017, every step we make is covered by the media. Therefore, when a police officer uses his power to save some people from some dangerous mafias. Then they will receive the reward from God for their good deeds. Additionally, when the media disseminates this news, the officers can gain reputation in the society as well. However, if he decides to use his power to make money, then he can be a corrupt officer and make people’s crime go away by paying money. This would allow him to become rich. In contrast, this would also cause the rise of numerous other problems that may harm people. The wrong use of power is also shown in the tempest by Shakespeare. in the tempest, the author shows a polar opposite use of power. Where the individual uses his power to get revenge. This is shown when the author Hast thou, spirit, Performed to point the tempest that I bade thee?; I boarded the king’s ship. Now on the beak, Now in the waist, the deck, in every cabin, I flamed amazement. Sometime I’d divide, And burn in many places…”(Act 1, scene 2, lines 194- 200). This shows that Prospero was commanding his spirit, Ariel to do certain tasks. Where he used his abilities to harm the people on the ship. However, abusing power is just wrong. These wrong use of power can hurt people and power is not meant to be used for hurting
