Every since we were young we have been told that drugs are bad for you. There was no instance that we thought otherwise about illegal drugs. Even though as we grew up we began to notice how many people did not care about drugs such as marijuana being illegal. Nowadays people have a stronger attitude towards the drug known as marijuana. The drug is known by people worldwide and other countries take different actions towards the issue. Marijuana is publicized through many different ways including television and movies. Legalizing marijuana would be beneficial towards the nation 's growth.

Marijuana is a natural growing plant thats is known worldwide. The plant also as “ cannabis” tends to give the user a mellow feeling with less stress associated. Like the United States, many other countries have also banned the substance leaving just a small amount that have some sort of recreational use. As of 2014, many more americans are deciding marijuana would be beneficial towards the country. Support for the drug has increased due to increase in medical studies showing the benefits of using medicinal marijuana (Introduction , 2013). This shows how the governments is looking more into the drug. They are considering the facts and opinion from the people. Even Though marijuana is considered an illegal drug by the federal government, state governments are being to legalize the drug recreationally. A well known state that benefited from the legalization of recreational and medicinal use is the state of Colorado. Mexican drug cartels are responsible for the illegal substance market across many U.S cities. Marijuana is a huge part of their revenue and legalizing it would decrease the prices of the drug nationwide. Former federal agent Terry nelson stated that drug cartels,” aren’t able to move as much cannabis”. This is shown due to marijuana being up to forty percent of the drug cartels income from the drug. Further legalization efforts leading to nationwide legal status of the drug would mean cartels would not smuggle nearly as much as they did in the past (O’Hara , 2014). Drug cartels receiving less revenue would be a victory the United States. There would be less marijuana related smuggling across the U.S border with Mexico. Also less drug related arrests along the south of the country. An important part of american society is public funding in certain areas. Marijuana would increase tax revenue that would be put into public services and establishments such as schools and hospitals. Marijuana increases business in legalized states. Tourism increases in the state due to foreigners trying to get there hands on some of the action. Tourism would likely double due to the legalization of the drug.
