There is a prevalent controversy surrounding the issue of cannabis/marijuana in the United States, which currently holds federal prohibition on marijuana. Continuing to keep cannabis illegal creates more harm than it does good; It leads to too much time and resources being wasted in this country. Cannabis has several benefits to offer: it can be used as a medicine or an alternative resource for products, and it will create more revenue for the country than it is currently losing on its efforts to crack down or detain people in possession of illegal cannabis.

Every doctor should be allowed to legally prescribe medicinal Marijuana to their patients, especially doctors in legitimate hospitals. Without the negative stigma, medicinal marijuana will be prescribed as regularly as common, legal medication. Marijuana can also replace all sorts of currently prescribed medications. Compared to current pharmaceuticals, marijuana poses a far less risk of danger since there have been no reported deaths due to marijuana or marijuana overdose. (New Health Guide). The legalization of cannabis can potentially save thousands of people’s lives and relieve a vast amount of Americans from excruciating pain with its medicinal properties; without the unnecessary dangerous side effects and risk of overdose. The legalization of cannabis would be extremely beneficial for the United States and will result in zero consequences. Many illnesses will be relieved, state tax money will be saved, and new industries or business will blossom. Even before the prohibition, cannabis has been used for its multiple purposes for many centuries. It is time to take a good hard look at the studies, facts, the potential of cannabis, and put a stop to the absurd political debate that has been contemplating whether or not to legalize. The federal government ended the prohibition on alcohol and regulate cigarettes and for that reason, they should be able handle a plant.
