“A hero is somebody who voluntarily walks into the unknown.”-Tom Hanks. A hero is a person that helps or has helped someone with something that not a lot of people would not do. Johnny can be considered a hero because he saved Ponyboy from being drowned by a Soc. Ponyboy can also be considered a hero because he helped the children in the church. Dally can be considered a hero because he helped Johnny and Ponyboy escape by giving them money and a gun.
One reason why Johnny can be considered a hero because he saved Ponyboy from drowning. That is heroic because there were a lot of other Socs there and he risked getting jumped again. In addition to why Johnny can be considered a hero, he was always there for Ponyboy when he needed it. That is heroic because that shows that he really cares about Ponyboy. And finally, On page

Ponyboy can also be considered a hero because he was gonna take the blame for Johnny killing the Soc. On page 57 it talks about Ponyboy escaping with Johnny when he could have left Johnny alone. That is heroic because he stayed with Johnny even when he was running from the police and he did not leave him alone. Dally can be considered a hero because he helped Johnny and Ponyboy get out of town by giving them money and for their safety he gave them a gun. In addition, he took the blame for something that two-bit did and got arrested to save two-bit from getting in to trouble. And finally, he helped Johnny in the burning church by pulling him out to safety. That is heroic because he risked his life for Johnny’s.
People who disagree may claim that Ponyboy can not be considered a hero because he go to rumbles against the Socs. people may also claim that Johnny can't be considered a hero because he killed a Soc. And finally, they may claim that Dally can’t be a hero because he gave Ponyboy and Johnny a gun and helped them escape the
A hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievement, or noble qualities. John Jay was a hero because he was one the nation’s Founding Fathers. He helped bring independence to the colonies along with creating a constitution
There were many heroes in the literature that has been read. Many have been courageous and showed their character through tough times. Through these tough times they were forced to make important decisions and this is where you get the real idea of who is deserved to be called a hero. The most influential though of all these was Huckleberry Finn. Through the innocence of childhood he is able to break through the societal pressures that are brought on him and do right.
Ponyboy is the younger brother of everyone in the gang but that does not that mean he cannot be heroic. Ponyboy and Johnny risked their life to save the kids life in the abandoned church. This does not only show heroism, but it also shows their friendship with each other. In my opinion Johnny and Ponyboy are the most heroic when they are together. Another example of this is when they two tell Dally to get away from the girls and sat beside them to protect them. Dally was harassing the girls and it took courage to tell Dally, of all people, to do something. Ponyboy also took Cherry to get popcorn while everyone stared at him. While Ponyboy was a greaser, Cherry was a Soc and you do not see one with the other. He also walked her to Two-Bit’s house
Many would say that the character Ponyboy should be the main hero of our story, but that’s just not the case. Ponyboy was easily pushed down, letting things get to him and letting his emotions take complete control. One push or slap from his brother and he runs away, like a cowardly lion scrambling into the tall grass of the savannah. Johnny on the other hand, is forced against abuse that no one should be able to be put through. Yet he stands his ground.
Stand up to the injustice unafraid of the strong enemy. Do the right thing even if you are weak. That is who we call a hero. Johnny could satisfy himself to save his friend. He could literally do anything to save his friend.
Some people would say that Johnny is not a hero because he killed Bob with a switchblade. Johnny could have went by Bob and pushed him off and run but instead, Johnny kills Bob and decides to run with Pony. That is hit and run but it would have been better if he had told the cops that he had killed a Soc named Bob that is why Johnny is not innocent. However Johnny is a hero because he saved his best friend, Phony, from being drowned by a Soc named Bob. This is a case of self defense because Johnny was saving himself and Pony from getting hurt by the Soc named Bob. Some people think Johnny is not a hero but this proves that he is a hero.
Who is a hero? In contemporary times, usage of the term has become somewhat of a cliché. Over the years, the term “hero” has become representative of a wide variety of individuals, each possessing differing traits. Some of the answers put forth by my colleagues (during our in-class discussion on heroism) as to whom they consider heroes pointed to celebrities, athletes, teachers and family members. Although the occupations differed, each of their heroes bore qualities that my classmates perceived as extraordinary, whether morally or physically. Nonetheless, Webster’s defines “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” Thus, it is worth considering that individuals become heroes relative to the situation with which they’re faced.
The first Greaser that I believe is a hero was Ponyboy because he was mentally tough. An example is when he was still attending school and getting straight A’s. Another heroic act was when he stood by Johnny’s side after Johnny murdered Bob, the Soc. He ran away with him while risking the chance of getting into trouble. In chapter six, there was an important scene where Ponyboy was a real hero by being brave and tough. "I'll get them, don't worry!" I started at a dead run for the church, and the man caught my arm. "I'll get them. You kids stay out! I jerked loose and ran on." (Pg. 78) This was when they heard the children’s screams come from inside the church. Ponyboy ran in the burning church and saved the children without hesitation. These are some reasons why Ponyboy was a hero.
Heroes. Everyone wants to be a hero, but sometimes, people lose sight of what a true hero really is. It does not have to be someone who flies around and saves innocent people from perilous monsters. A hero is simply someone that inspires others. In Alexie’s The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Junior was a hero because he rose above the expectations the world placed on him through his courage, passionate determination, and sympathetic perception.
When Johnny and Pony killed Bob, Dally covered for them and had them go hide out in the church until the cops were gone. Also, when Pony and Johnny went into the burning church to save the kids, Dally put out the fire that was on Pony’s back and he attempted to save Johnny. Johnny was heroic because he killed Bob when he was trying to kill him and Pony. Also, he was heroic because he went into the burning church to save the kids. Without Johnny doing that, the kids would’ve been burned to death or gotten seriously hurt. In conclusion, Dall is heroic because he helped Johnny out in the police situation, and Johnny is heroic because he saved the
What is a hero? A hero can be classified as a number of things. A hero can be a person who in the opinions of others has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. Ervin Staub, a holocaust survivor from Hungary and as scholar on altruistic behavior, has written, "Goodness like evil often begins in small steps. Heroes evolve; they aren't born. Very often the rescuers make only a small commitment at the start, to hide someone for a day or two. But once they had taken that step, they begin to see themselves differently, as someone who helps. What starts as mere willingness becomes intense involvement." The business man, Oskar Schindler, demonstrated a powerful example
A hero is a man who is distinguished by exceptional courage, nobility. and strength to carry out tasks that involve great risks. A hero can also be a person who fights for other people to help or save them. from their fears and fears. There is a hero in us all. A hero is someone who risks their own life to save or do good for others. Ponyboy is a hero because he risked his life to save children from a burning church. Johnny is a hero even though he killed someone it was to save his friend’s life but he also saved children from a burning church. Dally has been arrested, picks fights, and drinks, but when it comes to the people he is close with he has his soft spots for them. All bad boys have a good side.
Johnny is the hero because he saved the lives of multiple people by putting his own life at risk. One example is when Johnny and Ponyboy ran away. While they were running away Bob and his gang decided to jump Johnny and Pony for stealing their girls. They had Johnny on the ground beating him up and they were drowning Ponyboy. Johnny was really scared and he didn’t want Ponyboy to die so they grabbed the switchblade he had in his pocket and he killed Bob . So what he did was worth it because all the socs ran away in there Mustang. Another reason that Johnny is the hero is because he saved
Webster’s dictionary defines a hero as any man admired for his courage, qualities or exploits, especially in war. Some people attribute the term hero mostly to war. My personal definition of a hero is someone who takes a stand against evil or an unjust cause. The term hero can be applied to anyone, it isn’t necessary to save the world from explosion to be a hero. The act of standing up for a friend can also be called a heroic act.
