#CellPhones In School? All The Way! Even though some schools think cell phones are useless in school and don’t have any purpose of being on when school is going on, Cell phones should be allowed in school because of the educational purposes and cell phones also help students grow their responsibility and they help the students focus while working on a school task. One reason to allow cell phones in school is that cell phones can help students use it for educational resources. It first allows kids to use it for checking certain facts and explaining and deliberating on details. It helps students take photos to illustrate their work and presentations. Here are some ways it helps students for educational purposes, Andrea Leyden from the article, …show more content…
One of them is, that if your child loses their phone then that's their fault they either have to try to find it or, do chores and get money to get another one. They won’t misuse their cell phones if they really care about how much they are worth and do not want them getting taken away from them, or even getting lost. Cell phones have many potentials if they are used correctly and not used for bad methods during school hours. They help you stay in touch with parents when they REALLY need to contact you. “Just make sure to have your ringer off because nobody wants to listen to your EMINEM ringtone.” (Dropped calls should cell phones be allowed in schools? AhaParenting.com) says, “having parental controls on the phones until they are old enough to understand the rules are very important. If they are at school and want to go on twitter or snapchat, they can’t because the parental controls are being used.” “Monitor your phone usage if you are given a certain amount of data, that’s a big responsibility at school some websites are blocked so you have to use your data so when you go over your data usage you should be made paying for it.” (The First Cell Phone:Rules for Responsibility Dr.
Cell phones posses our lives. As of 2012, 82 percent of American teens, ages 16-17, own a cell phone (“DWI: Driving While Intexticated”). This statistic does not include the 90 percent of American adults (“Mobile Technology Fact Sheet”), and the 56 percent of children ages eight to twelve that own a cell phone (“Kids Wireless Use Facts”). Second graders on up now own a phone. The fact second graders own cell phones is beyond me. A second grader should play outside, construct forts out of blankets, and play with Barbies. I never sat around on an electronic device and rot my brain on social media, and I did not text my friends; I actually saw them, face-to-face. There is no need for little kids to obtain cell phones. Giving a child a cell phone only generates an attachment as they grow up, and they lose etiquette. Kids and adults alike do not know the appropriate time to use their cell phones and social media on them.
It starts in grade school now, “Why can’t I have a cell phone; everybody else does?” From the perspective of a Generation Y or the Millennials, a person born between 1984- 2002, owning a cell phone did not take place until after high school. This makes it hard to imagine an eight year old toting around a cell phone. Parents have to make a decision based on a child’s maturity level as well as asking the big question: Will ownership of a cell phone help or hinder the child? While cell phones can be a security measure for children, when a child is given a cell phone at an early age, the doorway to possible problems is opened.
One look at an email can rob someone of 15 minutes of focus and one text message can result in someone blowing off something important, like school. Cell phones should not be allowed at Lindbergh High School. Many people disagree on whether or not cell phones should be allowed, but Monique Conrod speaks out the consequences of phones in an article called Schools Divided Over Cellphones in Classrooms. Ms. Conrod announces, “One of the main reasons, for banning cell phones is that they can distract students from their work… the students admitted they... used their [electronics] for things other than school for more than half the time they were in class” (Conrod). If cellphones are allowed in class, then students will not pay attention to what
The first one is that kids would try to take pictures of their friends. Another one is that they are just a distraction piece. This essay is gonna explain why cell phones should be allowed in school. One of the reasons that cell phones should be aloud in school is they actually help the students more than people think. One quote to help prove this is.
Ever since I have been in high school, increasing amounts of people have acquired cell phones. They are causing more disturbances in school because of the cellular devices. Students are using them to harass other individuals. There should be a phone provided for students to make important calls. And lastly, cell phones have even opened new doors for cheaters. There’s really no good reason for a student to use their cell phone during school hours.
When parents send their children to school, they are trusting that their children are being taught everything they need to know to prepare them for the future. Parents are trusting that their children are being given every opportunity to explore every avenue of learning. With times changing rapidly, along with society turning more and more to technology, children have to be taught at an early age how to use and technology to remain current in today’s world. Technology is the direction our world is heading toward and relying on more and more each day. In the classroom, students have to be interested in what they are learning, as well as how they are learning. Cell phones should be incorporated into the school curriculum to give students another avenue of learning with the convenience of mobile devices. Most times, when it comes to technology, children tend to become very engaged and pay more attention to what is shown to them visually, rather than just listening to a teacher talk to them or reading a book. Due to the world evolving and technology being a prominent source of survival, incorporating cell phone usage in our school’s curriculum will not only engage students with a new way of learning, it will prepare students for the world outside of school as well as their future.
Cell phones are really good they can be used in many good ways like using it for an emergency, or having a easier way to do work. They can be used in a bad way such as sending emails during class or like I said using social media during class. Cells phones are a good way to contact your parent if you forgot something that you needed for PE or LA. Cell Phones are totally appropriate in schools. There are so many good ways phones can be used everybody always is focusing on the bad ways.
But this is why cell phones should be allowed in school. According to Ken Royal he believes that cell phones should belong in school. “I know all the reasons not to use cell phones—from radiation to thumb injuries—but computer lab electromagnetic field readings and carpal tunnel haven't stopped more traditional computing, either.” (Royal Par.
There is no real "problem" with cell-phones in themselves. Students just need to learn, and remember, that there is a time and a place for everything. A cell-phone should generally not be used in class, unless perhaps somebody is standing at the front of the room with a gun, or if there was some other calamity, such as: kids making bomb threats and what not - for these reasons I find it completely reasonable for a child to be permitted to be equipped with a powered "ON" cellular device. I don't know about you, but if I have kids one day who are potentially in danger, I would want to be aware of this at once.
83). Parents and school should work together to make sure that our children have the virtues of self-discipline, responsibility, and respectfulness when using cell phones. Parents need to educate young people to the pros and cons of cell phones. We should help students have the self-discipline to be able to use a cell phone in class to complete assignments without doing other things on their phone during that time. We need to work together to teach children to respect themselves and others by teaching them to be careful with the type of pictures and videos that they take of others and themselves. They also need to understand that if they text someone something inappropriate it could be shared with others in the school or on social media. If parents and the school worked together we could teach students that cell phones can be used for more than just texts, pictures, and social media. But could be used as a vessel interact with pen pals in other countries and as another tool that they can use to further enrich their
Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.
Cell phones are small and portable yet provide so much to its user with being able to look up anything to calling your parents in case of an emergency or if you need to give them a heads up on something. With the way things are today people need to focus on incorporating cell phones into daily life and finding ways to make them more suitable in a classroom environment. Teachers are already doing this though with using apps that work with the whole class and can track data and usage of a student. It cannot be debated that cell phones are beneficial in school as before cell phones you would have to go to your local library and hopefully find what you are looking for. Cell phones belong in a school environment as they can be helpful and it 's a parent 's right to be able to get ahold of their
In conclusion, this essay has tried to argue that cell phones are valuable tools in schools. Many of us see cell phone pessimistically but really haven’t looked at them optimistically. We all know that "with every good, comes a bad, and with responsibilities, come consequences". By all means allowing cell phones in schools is a great idea, and students should start to learn the positive features of that new device. Overall, this essay has attempted to show that allowing cell phones in schools is not a bad idea.
Cell phones could be a life-saver in the case of an emergency. In New York, a violent incident has taken place. Fortunately, timely communication from a student using a cell phone saved a man who desperately needed medical attention ("Cell Phones in the Classroom”). Another student has assisted the police to arrest the suspect by giving timely updates of the criminal scene using a cell phone in the school lockdown. In fact, many school districts have decided to lift the ban on the use of cell phones in school because of “the role cell phones have played in some emergency situations” ("Cell Phones in the Classroom” ). Moreover, parents could be easily in touch with their children, know their whereabouts through mobile communication, and therefore it would allay parents’ concerns (Cohen). For instance, lots of parents have claimed that they have to stay in touch with their children ...
Ever since incidents such as 9/11 and Columbine, high schools have started implementing new rules regarding cellphones. Cellphones attract the attention of building managers, teachers, parents, and students. Although teachers see them as a distraction and a way to cheat, they can be quite helpful to students. School districts should permit students to use cellular devices in school for purposes of improving their education and providing themselves with a sense of security. By permitting the use of cellphones in school, students can increase their knowledge and complete school work by using applications and other features on their smartphones.
