Even though 68% of students between the grades of 6 and 12 bring cell phones to school, the school ban the use of them in the building at the time of the first bell and the last bell of the day. Cell phones have gone a long ways since 1984 when the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X was first introduced. They say that cell phones are essentially a miniature computer. Students of all ages already use them. According to research, the sales of smartphones increased a 55.5% in 2012. 74% of young adults from 25 to 34 own smartphones, but even more impressive 58% of children from the age of 13 to 17 have smartphones. Important phone numbers include parent’s work numbers, doctor office numbers, or whoever the student may need to contact in case of emergency. They may need to contact their parents if they get sick or are hurt. This helps because the school may not have a parent 's work phone or other numbers. Along with all of the pros that seem to be there, there are also several cons that may come with having cell phones in schools. Allowing cellphones in schools may cause a distraction to the student using the cell phone, the teacher teaching the class, or the other students in the class. That is where integrity comes into play. Doing what is right even when no one is looking. If students know how to respect the people around them, then everything would be better and probably easier. The camera on a phone can make it easier for students to cheat on tests. The student that is taking the test could take a picture of the test, send the picture to someone else, then that person could send the answers back to that person. They could also take a picture of the test and send it to someone that has to take the test later in the day so they could get the answers
