Alex It’s like my mom tries to piss me off on purpose whenever she introduces me to someone as Alex. Although it is my given name I have gone by Allie my whole life. In home videos I could hear my dad saying “Allie” not “Alex”. People automatically assume I’m a boy just because of my name, when in reality it is a unisex name and those people shouldn’t assume something about someone. Bunny… The Dog We didn’t name her. My mom and I adopted her when she was two years old and she has been a huge part of our lives ever since. She lived in a horrible environment and we saved her. Miss Bun Bun, as we call her, lived in a home with seven kids, a sick mom who worked and homeschooled the kids, a dad who had no job, and even another dog. She was under …show more content…

Like the ticket to the movie from a first date or the birthday cards you get from your grandma. Yeah, I keep those. The little things can carry so much meaning. I make sure to remember the moments in life that made me happy, angry, and even sad. At first I just wanted to keep a time capsule of everything from high school to open at my graduation, but soon the little box had to get replaced with a bigger and then I had to go from one box to two. My memories have grown and all those memories mean so much. I wanted be able to open it up and look at all my stuff when I graduate college, or when I get married, and when I have my kids. I want to be able to look back on my life and say, “I remember that.” Quiet I’m shy. Role Model Does a role model have to people perfect? If so, then I don’t want a role model. Nobody is perfect. My brother is my role model. Although he’s made mistakes in life he’s changed his life to be positive instead of negative. That’s the kind of role model I want. Spell Check Thank God for spell check. I am very intelligent but at times the simplest things can be hard. Like trying to spell a word and mixing the letters up. Like writing, there when you really mean their. Tattoo I have a tattoo. I know some people hate them and think you’re ruining your body, but I believe that your body is what you make it. It’s a blank canvass ready to be painted. Unsure I have hopes and dreams for
As a young girl, I was never fond of the name Anna. The name came along with too much baggage.. Unknowingly, people would constantly call me the wrong name, and some people, disregarding my opinion, even created strange nicknames for me. Over the years, I have been called a variety of names including Annie, Ann, Anna, Annabelle, Anne Frank, banana, banana boat, etc. Frankly, there are just too many variations of the name “Anna”. Being an extremely common name, almost everywhere I go, whether it be school or the grocery store, I always seem to find another “Anna”. Although nameberry.com tells me that “Anna” means grace, it actually means unique, intelligent, and affectionate.
As I started the program, I had the opportunity to pick the gender of my child and provide a name. My child’s name was Ezra (Manis, 2008) and he was a boy. I selected his name because it is one of the names that I plan to name one

My Family Case Study will examine the ‘Nguyen’ family and their current struggle with family finances. I will present the family, their history, and their response to the challenge of dealing with the crisis related to the family finances.
How can a simple six letter word be so complicated to define? Family is a single word that is open to many interpretations depending on the individual. If you try to condense this ideal to a single clinical definition you end up excluding numerous members of society. What comes to mind when you think of the word family? While in the most broken down and literal sense, family means a relative with a blood or legal bond, the word family can encompass blood relations, adoptions, and even intentional relationships such as friendships. Economies, cultures, and backgrounds can further differentiate what one’s perception of a family is. For many people, including me, a family is so much more. It is the amount of commitment, cohesiveness, and importance
Family, a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. Although family is a concretely defined term, the idea of family varies from person to person. But, what makes a family? For those who are surrounded by loving blood relatives, for those who have never known the one to grant them life, for those who have left their blood behind for a more loving and nurturing environment, what can commonly define a family? Family is something defined by the individual. Family includes those who you have come to love, whether platonically or romantically, those you have suffered with, those you have come to respect, and most importantly those you have cared for and in turn have cared for you. To one that could mean people who
Naming your children with good intention is not to be blamed, but you also need to consider if your child would be comfortable with the name. Imagine that your parents wanted you to be lively and be in high-spirit, so they named you Gaylord and your surname happened to be Focker. Will you satisfy with the name Gaylord Focker because it is the name that your parents has given wanting you to be special? Will people calling your name feel comfortable and will you be comfortable to be called as Gaylord in school or at work? In my case, I hated to be called by my Korean name, “Min,” when I was younger because my brother had the same name. The first syllable of our Korean name was “Min” so when we first came to the states, it became our first name. It was absolutely uncomfortable; when someone asked for “Min” over the phone, we had to ask “the boy or the girl?” Every time our name was called from behind, we both turned around and one of us had to be told “not you.” Our school friends and teachers wondered why we had the same name and we had to explain to every people we meet. I can’t explain how much I was relieved when I finally got my “ow...
The unit of a family is the most prominent essential for all of us. As social human beings, we seek social support in order to thrive, and that is where family comes into play. A family is where you receive love, support, encouragement, and many other social benefits. The total number of households in the United States increased from 63 million in 1970 to 113 million in 2008 (Weeks, 2012). The family has influenced multitudes of people in many ways. There are many things to love in life. Family and friends, pets and even hobbies can be loved. While I personally believe that love is a very strong word, I do have things I love. Please join me in learning more about myself as I explain why family and friends have a special place in my heart.
Family structure can greatly impact the day-to-day activities of a family. A family with one parent may have a very different dynamic than one with two parents, or possibly even more parents. It is no surprise that these differences exist and families and that one’s family impacts their way of life. However, does it make a significant difference? Or is it simply a difference in how people react to their situations. That is what I wanted to learn from this assignment.
Yes, it is in fact true that I am what is consider the majority of teachers in the United States. I am a white, middle-class, monolingual female. One thing that I think helps me with being outside of the basic box, is my family life and personal experiences. I grew up in a small town in New Jersey where everyone knew everyone and respected the diversity of everyone in the town. One thing about me is that my family definitely does not meet the traditional family structure standards. I lived with my mother and my half-brother. My brother and I have different dads and my brother happens to be half black. The interesting thing about it is, that I didn’t realize my brother was a different race then me until someone told me when I was in first
Four years ago if you asked me how I picture my family, I would say that they are the best and I would never ask for anything else but now my mindset is completely changed. Approximately two years ago I found out that my mom had been cheating on my dad. Maybe it could have been forgiven if it was with a stranger and not with my uncle or it was only once not six years but nevertheless, my heart felt like it broke. As devastating as the day we found out was, it was the battle afterwards that was the hardest.
"The great gift of family life is to be intimately acquainted with people you might never even introduce yourself to, had life not done it for you." -Kendall Hailey. Many people among us think that a family reunion is boring. It is an unpleasant social affair where our parents drive us to go and stay there for a considerable length of time. There are odd individuals who come to us and kiss or embrace us while we are still considering "do I know him/her?”. It is because we believe that enjoying the holiday out with friends is much better than investing hours with the people, we “unfortunately” belong to. They have no other subject for discussion aside from our studies and grades. On the other hand, family gathering is always a new experience for someone who lives far away from his blood relations.
After writing about my history and the themes I selected, I have learned a lot about who I am in society. I have realized that I am an average girl that has not experienced much of life. During this analysis I have come to realize I have not had much contact with other family types or other cultures.
