In the story the shooting the elephant the three main topics are the elephant the people and the treatment that George Orwell received. The people were very offended that Orwell was coming to take over their town.

The treatment Orwell received was not very inviting to where he was going. George worked as an India imperial police officer for 5 years and India was taking over the British Colonialism. Orwell job was to boss people around and make them do things they didn’t want to do. George didn’t like his job because he didn’t have many friends. The elephant started to roam around the city and destroy things. The elephant went through the town destroying the village hurting and even killing people. George Orwell had found out and had to do something to help the town. The elephant was being used as bait to get Orwell to do something for the town to hate him even more. Orwell was being lowered in to hurt the elephant Orwell asked for a 44 Winchester shotgun which would not kill the elephant but tame it. The people in the town were ready to stop the elephant.

The people in the town were very devastated the town was being took over by police and the elephant broke loose and was terrorizing the town. The town hated Orwell but needed his help to kill the elephant. The people followed Orwell up the hill to get the elephant as Orwell went in for the shot he hit and killed the elephant. The people showed him even more hate than not only did he come to take over their country he also killed the town elephant.
