Biological warfare. Using infectious diseases, bacteria, viruses, fungi, and biological toxins to kill animal, plants, and even humans as an act of war. But one of the most gruesome biological warfare scientists is Shiro Ishii. From testing germs of warfare on Chinese prisoners of war, to killing hundreds of innocent civilians, Shiro was one of the most harrowing biological warfare scientists in his time. Shiro Ishii was born in Shibayama Village on June 25th, 1892, Sanbu District, Chiba Prefecture, Japan (Chen). When he went to school he studied medicines at his university before joining the Japanese Army. He studied at the Kyoto Imperial University (Chen). He obsessed over building his knowledge on the subject. Ishii’s military medical career began to blossom in 1932 when he was chosen to head up the biological warfare division (Shiro Ishii - Japans Medical Monster). In his time he was supposed to conduct secret experiments on human test subjects in a prison camp. But some of the subjects escaped and spread word on his dastardly deeds, and the Japanese destroyed the camp. “They subsequently moved their medical testing operations to Pingfang, an area outside the city of Harbin, China, and again appointed Ishii as director. Funded by the Japanese government, Ishii had more than 150 buildings constructed across a huge compound covering over 2 square miles and able to house up to 400 prisoners” (Shiro Ishii - Japans Medical Monster). They continued to do their dirty deeds under the name of “the Epidemic Prevention and Water Purification Department of the Kwantung Army of Japan”, which supposedly means they were studying contagious diseases and water …show more content…

From making human logs by amputating them with out anesthesia, injecting them with deadly diseases and leaving them to die, to human experiments in a secret prisoner camp which later needed to be destroyed by the Japanese army because it became exposed to the public.
