It is true to say that the credentials and requirements outlined by the AASEC guidelines for sex therapists make them more qualified to offer rigorous therapies. This is because of the high level of qualification and clinical experience that they are required to possess. A rigorous sex therapy requires a clear background experience in clinical experience, which the specialists have. For one to be a sex therapist, they must have obtained a highly advanced clinical degree, including a thorough training in psychotherapy from an approved higher learning institution. Unlike sexuality counselors, sex therapists undergo rigorous training in clinical related treatments through case reviews and practicum experience (AASECT, 2004). They are also trained to handle, evaluate, and treat psychosexual disorders. For that reason, these advanced qualifications make sex therapists more qualified to offer rigorous therapy as opposed to sexuality counselors.
The two different levels of sexuality related counseling, as discussed by Southern and Cade (2011), are essential and have a number of benefits. Fo...

Strasburger conveys the message that there is a problem with sexual education and urges his readers to do something about it. Teens should be able to make educated decisions, so they can protect themselves and their partners from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and be able to maintain that safety from teenage years to adulthood. The bulk of sexual education programs within the United States are not assisting teens to achieve and uphold these standards. Sexual education curriculum in the United States needs to be examined on both a federal and state level, and comprehensive sexual education programs must be implemented.
The program called Don’t Be a Sexual Statistic (DBASS), is based on the HYA and implements their mission to provide truthful information regarding reproductive health education in the North Carolina school system. This program requires all seven to ninth graders to have a class every semester or year pertaining to each grade level, teaching the students about reproductive health education. The target group for DBASS, is young children to teenagers from ages twelve to fifteen. This focuses on seven to ninth graders in the North Carolina school system. With students today ages fifteen to nineteen having sex a least once (Guttmacher.org, 2010), shows that the old ways of teaching health education needs to be revised. This statistics shows that increasing knowledge with comprehensive sex and reproduction health could help lower the statistics and help the students make wiser decision in their future.

Marriage and family counselors are counselors distinctively trained to work with family systems and provide therapy for people who wish to solve emotional conflicts. Their goal, with therapy, is to revise people's perceptions and behavior, expand communication, and prevent individual and family crises. Although marriage and family counseling has a broad history, formal recognition of the professional counseling specialization can be traced to the establishment in 1989 of the International Association of Marriage and Family Counseling (IAMFC), which is a division of the American Counseling Association. Requirements for marriage and family counselors typically include a master’s degree in counseling, two years or three thousand hours of supervised clinical experience, and state-recognized exams.
Moody and Sasser stated that the normal aging process is not the determining factor of adult sexuality as much as are marital status, general physical health or an older person’s feelings about sexuality. Sexuality is much broader than sexual intercourse. Older people, like younger adults, need intimacy of all sorts in order to be happy and healthy, and there is individual variability in terms of what people need, want, and enjoy. As a social worker working with this population for the first time has been very interesting. Initially, writing about sexuality in general was intimidating, however, I found the challenge interesting and fulfilling. I am looking forward to continuing my work with older adults and hopefully I can make a difference.

Sexual relationships between counselors and clients should never ben permitted due to the power associated with the counselor’s role with clients. While ethical guidelines vary between different counseling associations as to whether it is acceptable for counselors to have sexual relationships with clients after the professional relationship has ended, in many cases these relationships continue to be prohibited. This standard is held because some believe that the powe...
