Teenagers are in danger of sexual violence because the sexual images of women in the media normalize the women as sexual objects. When people think of sexual images in media, they first come up with women because women are more depicted as sexual images than men in media. Sexually suggestive images of women are everywhere where can easy to access in a variety of media. The author believe when women are objectified more than men in media, women are always the possibility in danger of threatening sexual violence, but men really do not have results of intimidation from sexual violence (Kilbourne). As the media normalize the sexual images of women as sex objectification than men, people make dangerous attitudes towards teenagers. Young people may catch peoples’ sexual behaviors in media which objectified women for granted. However, some people believe that women are decorated by beauty and fashion; in other words, they are designing themselves to keep their sexuality through make up and clothes. Also, the women in media are represented as the victims of male violence that can encourage real violence against women. As a result, young people are threatened to be the targets of being sexual abused. Some teenagers have experiences of sexually abused in their life. According to the article, “Our kids are surrounded by these brutal representations of girls and women, and it is no wonder that women and young girls are the victims of male violence. No wonder that 20% of college girls will be sexually assaulted by guys they know in school. And it is no wonder that boys as young as 14 are capable of raping little girls as young as 11” (DelVecchio).
