A very controversial topic, which is in constant debate, is if the Western World has achieved sexual equality or not. Since countries that do not belong to the Western World clearly have not achieved sexual equality, the majority of society in the Western World is convinced that sexual equality has been achieved.
However, this majority actually contains to 90% of straight, white, cis men. This is the reason why their view on sexual equality is most likely biased and lacking of understanding the struggles of females. Furthermore, they do not just struggle to comprehend the problems of women living in the Western World, but due to the fact that those men grew up with certain privileges they most of the time do not even realise that there even …show more content…

In a lot of schools in the United States young girls were send home to change their clothes, because those clothes were seen as a distraction. Girls have been sent home for wearing a top, which was showing a bra strap, for wearing a v-neck, for wearing yoga pants, or for wearing make up. Meanwhile boys often wear their trousers revealing their boxer shorts. However, there is not one single record of a boy being send home to change because he was seen as a distraction. In addition in most cases the boys in the classroom were not even distracted by the appearance of their female classmate, but the in most cases also male teacher decided that the appearance was distracting. This is a perfect example of how girls are already sexualised at a young age by men, who are twice their age. Moreover even if a woman gets a job concerning science she will still be paid less than a man in the exact same position, which is known as the wage gap. Despite several studies about the subject men will often declare the wage gap a myth, invented by angry feminist.
Feminist and feminism is just one more example about inequality. While feminism simply is about the equality of all genders, it is often used as an insult. People often connect it with the stereotype of angry, man hating lesbians that do not shave. A lot of people also do not see the purpose of feminism, since they do believe that all genders are treated equally due to their own privilege like explained before. However, there is also a group of people believing that female feminists want to turn the current situation around and want to be treated better than men and want to be the privileged ones. Yet, with that accusation men actually admit that they are privileged and that all genders are not treated
