Description of the Sexual or Reproductive Health Issue: In the first place, hyper sexuality can be both a sexual health issue and reproductive health issue. A sexual health issue that may occur is child sexual abuse that is a risk because it has negative sexual outcomes and it also has long term effect that may are linked to hyper sexuality. According to Van Roode (2009) “Child sexual abuse has been associated with early onset consensual sexual activity and unprotected intercourse, multiple sexual partnerships, teenage pregnancy, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) for adolescent women.” Couples who have unprotected sex can be transmitted with any sort of sexual transmitted Infections (STI) or sexual transmitted disease (STD) not just …show more content…

In every program or intervention the first thing is to accept your addiction and be mentally prepared for the intervention to happen in order for it to work. In the article they proposed an intervention that was “self- efficacy self-efficacy, derived from Bandura’s social-cognitive theory” (Reid, 2007). This helped because a person processes the information mentally and goes stage by stage helping themselves through the transition phase to change them to become self-aware. This study was done on male clients who went through hyper sexuality; they ranged from ages 18 to 58- years-old. The intervention was for “self-reported presenting problems associated with sexual behavior among participants included compulsive masturbation, excessive pornography consumption, and unprotected sex with multiple partners” (Reid, 2007). There are many issues that can be brought up when going through interventions that may not be talked about; such as, also affecting their children and not just themselves. For example, mothers can also cause risk factors for child sexual abuse. Providing information about any infections they may get while pregnant, partners can be infected with any STI or STD regardless if using protection or not. There are various people who act before they think and they don’t get the proper information needed to stay protected from any of the issues. Equally just providing information to just anyone about other health issues that may go hand in hand with hyper sexuality not just in mothers, women, but also men and teenagers who may not know they are going through hyper
