Many students disobey schools dress codes because they sometimes think it's unfair because there are a lot of things females can’t wear or do because of “distractions”. Schools dress codes limits students and teachers creativity, and also can be sometimes expensive that low paying families can not afford. Students should be able to dress comfortable at school and be themselves instead of worrying about if they are in dress code, or if they fit in with everyone else.
Choosing what to wear for the day. This is what most students are thinking about when they wake up. Students need the latest fashion in order to fit in, but some clothing may not be acceptable to wear in school. School dress codes are denying students their right to dress how they want, but the dress code is important for the students and their learning. Students are beginning to stand up and want to be heard. Some students are taking action and want the dress code to become less strict but some schools are doing the opposite for safety issues and for the students healthy learning environment. Dress codes are important for a strong and healthy learning environment and is also reducing violence in many schools around the country.
Dress codes are essentials for all schools across America. Dress codes will set the tone for students to be safe because they will help reduce violence, increase student safety, and provide a positive learning environment.
If there were dress codes in school, it would eliminate violence and bullying. If there was a kid who liked to wear a different style of clothing then others, then he would probably get teased or maybe even get beaten up. Also, it reduces violence and makes students behave better because it makes everyone equal, bringing all of the students to the same level. "A dress code brings us together, like an athletic team. We're unified, we stand for the same things," said Bob Sanders, a teacher at Anti...
So then I ask myself, “If a school doesn’t have a school uniform, what benefits can come from a dress code?” One of the main reasons for a school dress code is the safety of the school, without a dress code a school is vulnerable to almost any predator. With a dress code the amount of violence is decreased and student achievement is increased. The discrimination of the economic status is reduced; it isn’t diminished, but reduced. Dress codes also ban a lot of clothing that isn’t appropriate for a school setting. Most school dress codes don’t allow female students wear hats, exposed underwear, shirts with a spaghetti strap, exposed back or stomach, or sho...
There tends to be an understanding that there is a difference between a dress code and a uniform. However, most school dress codes have become as strict as uniforms.(Daniels) Dress codes require a certain set of rules for a student to pay attention to when dressing for school in the morning. Some rules may include the length of shorts or the width of a strap on a top. While many are okay with these codes many are not okay with uniforms. Uniforms are a set of clothing including items such as a pair of dress pants and a dress shirt.(Daniels) School Uniforms and dress codes in schools are increasing in specificity. Schools are changing with the world around them to make policies up to date.
Dress codes regulate what can be worn in certain places, such as schools and facilities. These codes are controversial where ever they are enforced. People tend to think that the government does not have the power to tell them they cannot wear certain articles of clothing and the fact that some schools do it can throw people into a fit. Some people believe that dress codes stifle personal expression, that a dress code is the same thing as a uniform. Many people do not remember that individualism goes beyond clothes, and that a dress code will help kids to be more than the clothes they have or do not have. Dress codes allow students to set themselves apart from others by their actions not their appearance.
A teacher or principle believe that everyone needs to be in a safe and undistracted environment when they are learning. The school dress code to them is just fine and they are always keeping an eagles eye out to spot and hunt down anyone who isn't following it in some type of way. Teachers and principles don’t want students making judgements about others by what type of clothing they are
We see stories Social media has more stories of girls being sent home because of dress code violations. Maybe the problem isn’t the students, but dress codes in general. Dress codes ultimately disrupt the pursuit of knowledge for the students, encourage gender bias, and can be dangerous. If we want the younger generations to succeed in the education system, we should utilize school uniforms. Uniforms in schools from elementary to high schools, will promote gender equality and facilitate student safety.
I feel that school dress codes mainly focus on women. Anyone, male or female will know that any dress code is made to help, but when they are only aimed at women it’s not okay. We have to fit within the tight boundaries of the dress code, not able to express ourselves. It’s almost like the Renaissance. We just gave life a restart, and found this lump of creativity. I feel that we should give the dress code a restart.
