We've come to a point where television has become so loaded with “vampire-this” and “werewolf-that,” that each show has begun to look like the reruns of another. Luckily, this definitely isn't the case for creator Vince Gilligan's, Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad follows the life of Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston), an ordinary high school chemistry teacher. With a loving wife and teenage son at home, over time, Walter has formed an exceedingly mundane routine for his life. After soon discovering that he had been diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, Walter decided to take extreme measures in order to secure his family financially. Eventually, he would descend into a world so dark and utterly twisted, that it would eventually consume him. Walter White became Heisenberg; the greatest drug lord the streets had ever seen. As he ascended in status within the drug cartel, the love and trust he had from his family and friends quickly descended. There are thousands of reasons that explain why millions of people tune into Breaking Bad. This series offers a much needed relief from the Dracula descendents, which frankly, are slowly diminishing any scope of variety existing on television. Because of the outstanding acting, seemingly distorted reality, and uniquely relatable storyline and characters, this hit show tops the charts as the best modern-day television series that cable has to offer.

The costumes mirror the changes in Eilis’s personality. The atmosphere and imagery of the movie made me feel like I was in living in that era. All three actresses who played the Lacey women resonated well with each other as if they were relatives in real life. Although the male actors played very different personalities, they managed the be equally loveable, which made it hard predict the outcome of the story.
Introduction The aim of this research task is to analyse modern media and then comparing it to Brecht and his principles of theatre. Throughout the task I will be referencing Brechtian techniques with regards to The unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix TV Series). Bridesmaids centers around six female leads: Kristen Wiig as Annie, Maya Rudolph as Lillian, Rose Byrnes as Helen, Melissa McCarthy as Megan, Ellie Kemper as Becca, and Wendi McLendon-Covey as Rita. The plot centers around Lillian’s engagement and the roles each of these women play, specifically her lifelong best friend Annie and Helen who comically struggle over who gets to perform the maid of honor duties. Annie is a single, down to earth woman in her 30s who is struggling to pick up the pieces after her bakery failed, and breaking up with her self-absorbed boyfriend. Whereas Annie’s efforts for the wedding planning are simple and thoughtful, Helen’s are extravagant and completely over the top. Lillian and the other bridesmaids praise Helen’s ideas making Annie feel neglected and like she has been demoted from best friend/maid of honor status. As the film progresses, Annie’s jealousy intensifies and Helen shines through as the star bridesmaid through a series of misfortunate events. These events include a dress fitting from hell, bad Mexican food, Helen giving Annie sedatives on an airplane, and Annie flipping out at Lilian’s bridal shower, thus ruining her and Lillian’s friendship. Throughout these events, Annie befriends, and has a romantic involvement with a cop, Nathan. When Nathan encourages her to re-pursue her baking dream, Annie shuts him down ruining that relationship as well. Whe...

Robert Rodriguez worked with Frank Miller; the artist of the “Sin City” comics, although not legally co-directors they both took on directing positions in filming the film. There was also the guest directing of Quentin Tarantino in a scene with Dwight played by Clive Owen and Jackie boy played by Benicio Del Toro. The cinematography of the film is impressive because it was shot digitally using mainly green screen in a studio in what could be considered a short amount of time. The use of green screen allowed for innovative forms of storytelling while still incorporating traditional modes of storytelling.

Moreover, she refuses to commit to any one man, preferring ultimate independence. However, her independence does not make her happy. Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues is a play that focuses on a subject left untouched by most performers: vaginas. Including a diverse array of backgrounds, Ensler has interviewed hundreds of women to explore what their vaginas mean to them; she aims to discover the stories behind having a vagina, which often leads down a road of very serious discussions, including self-acceptance, body image, and sexual trauma.
