Sex, Drugs, And Alcohol

There are many issues that are facing college students all over the United States today, whether its addiction to sex, drugs, alcohol or just being pushed to the brink with stress or even raging hormones. I believe a college issue is the fact that women are under pressure to get abortions, but are then told that they are horrible people after they have had one. Not only that but also the fact that women are not always fully educated about sex. We have seminars almost every week for the first month of school talking about sexual violence, date rape drugs, and alcohol. But there has yet to be one seminar that I have been aware of that talks about how a woman can protect herself from pregnancy and help her understand her reproductive system and its health. Everyone seems to think that it is someone else’s job to talk about it. Nearly 1 out of 4 pregnancies end in abortion. That is 25% termination rate in the United States, and out of that 25%, fifty one percent of the women who had abortions are under the age of 25. That is a huge number of college-aged women who are suffering from helplessness due to an unplanned pregnancy. As of right now in the United States abortion is fully legal in some states if performed before the twenty fourth week of pregnancy unless there are major health complications involved in the pregnancy. But what if one day a woman’s right to choose was just gone? If a woman’s choice was gone in the matter of abortion more women ages 15-19 would die from childbirth, currently the rate of deaths caused by young birthing is 70,000. Imagine if your right to terminate a pregnancy before any harm was done to your body was gone. Others may say that dying to save a body is noble because they are dying to save the life... ... middle of paper ... .... 95% of women who have abortions do not regret their decision to terminate their pregnancies. Why should people judge or take away another’s right to choose just because they don’t agree with it? People always are going to disagree, but just because Christians don’t believe in what Atheist believe in doesn 't mean that we are taking away atheist rights to worship or speak the word of their religion. We cannot listen or pay attention to what these people are doing or saying but no one has a right to tell someone that they need to do something against their will. Isn 't that why our founding fathers created the United States? To prevent us from having to do things against our will. In America we have the right to choose what is best for us, or even our unborn children. No one should be able to take that right away from a woman, not even the highest court of the land.
